I've been considering starting a blog, but I'm on the fence. I just feel like it wouldn't be too single minded. One day would be "look at this random thing I crafted!" and another would be "Here's example #4974223565 why I shouldn't be allowed in public" and then "before/after of my master bathroom"!
So how many of you have blogs? Do you feel you have to be specialized?
I've been considering starting a random one, some d&r, some f&b, some crafting & gardening etc etc but every time I sit down to start I feel so silly. Also totally stuck on a name. I'm sure it shouldn't be this hard, but I feel like its similar to naming a kid?! lolololol
I don't have a blog, nor do I ever plan on having one. I really don't think anyone would care that much about what I have to say about things. I don't need another time suck. LOL.
I have several....one for my classroom, one for teachers, and my house blog. I like to keep separate specialized ones. My house one will start more just house building and construction related, but then will go more into decor, etc. as we move in and settle in. I want to keep it focused so I can make a book out of it.
ahouse-ahome.blogspot.com if you are interested. Just getting it up and started.
I'm probably going to create one mostly for my family to see what we're up to. I keep getting nagged for pictures of the house but I just haven't had time to take many.
Not being single-minded is a good thing in my opinion. Projects, crafts, renovations and the like are great but personality goes a loooong way to making a blog successful and enjoyable to read and write. My wife and I have a blog and we're very good at how-to's and projects, but it's a little harder to incorporate the personality aspect... we're working on it though.
Another comment I would add is, it's ok to be bad or not great at something and still blog about it. No one expects Bob Vila in every post, so if you botch a project, write about it anyway.

Good luck!
I totally agree with this. I don't follow many blogs (maybe one when I get really, really (really) bored), but I like it when the person seems real, posting about triumphs AND fails.

That's what I do. I don't expect anyone to read it and I'm not writing it for the purpose of entertaining the general public. The link only went out to friends and family who constantly asked for updates on the house and what I've been doing to it.
I held off on starting one for a LONG time. I love to write and do it in my job a lot. But I always felt like no one would be interested. I started one when we bought our fixer upper, and I seriously have been shocked at how many people, friends, acquaintances, strangers, have told me they love reading it.
I have a random, every day life one. I started it as sort of an online journal for myself. I love going back and seeing the stuff I did. It's an outlet for me and I do it because I enjoy it.

This ^^^ is how I feel. LOL!
I started a private family one about 2 years ago and have maybe blogged about 6 times or so. Mostly pictures with very little wording. I just have a hard time finding the time or motivation to keep up with it.
I'm not much of a blog follower either. I have bookmarked a few but rarely ever go out and read them.
I have one to document the construction of our house. I write it mostly so that we'll remember what this experience was like not because I think that random people are really going to care about our house or how we are building it.
