Poor H is really sick. Took Ibuprofen and Tylenol alternating to get his temp below 102. I'm going to have to check on him before I go to bed and hope he is doing better. It is not an ear infection so not sure what it could be.
@lococo Sorry this took forever. I picked kdrake8 up from the airport and forgot to update!
We had the appointment with the surgeon today. She said that by looking at the video of his upper GI, it is very obvious that he has reflux that is being caused by he hiatal hernia (she said that a lot of kids have to undergo other testing to make sure, but his reflux is fairly severe). She was surprised that our pediatrician sent us straight to her instead of to a GI specialist, because the surgery to correct a hiatal hernia is more severe than other types of hernias. The surgery is called nissen fundoplication, which involves wrapping the upper part of the stomach around the esophagus. She said that it makes it impossible to vomit and it typically has to be completed a second time in children this small. There are also other complications, so starting with the GI specialist is definitely the way to go. Assuming the hernia is not severe, they will be able to hopefully treat it with medication and diet so we don't have to put him through such an invasive surgery.
Yikes steph196! Glad she's sending you to a gi specialist instead. I hope they can help him.
I'm glad she's sending us this way also. I went in wanting it to get fixed so we weren't medicating forever, but after hearing about the surgery, I want the medication to work!
