I think she got herself Blackballed. She's never shied away from the fact that she didn't want to play the game so to speak, and unfortunately for her, that had consequences.
Stop blaming other people.
ETA: I don't think it's anything wrong with not playing the game, but to act surprised there are consequences, please.
I heard she was on the outs. I am surprised she named names. It seems like she is living her truth so I guess that's good.
She is definitely living her truth, and while I don't agree, in a fickle place like Hollywood, living your truth, can cost you jobs, especially if you're a woman, and even more so if you're a Black woman.
I mean, look at Simone Biles. She was booted off of Dancing With The Stars after getting perfect scores. Why, because Americans didn't like that she responded that "Smiling doesn't get you gold", when she was asked to smile. I mean how dare this little Black girl not smile and shuck and jive for the masses. She's cute until she speaks her truth and is seen as an "Angry Black Woman"

Yeah you can't be too real because they can't handle it. That SimoneBiles stuff is crazy. I loved her confidence and poise. I can't stand when people tell women to smile.

Poor Simone. That little girl learned though, because I remember some comments she made about not experiencing or noticing racism. Sucks to watch black children learn these sad lessons in real time, and on a world stage.
What did Monique say to Tyler, Oprah and Lee to make them angry?
I only remember reading about some of her issues with Lee Daniels. It was around the time of Precious. She didn't want to do the (necessary-evil-to-promote-your-movie/work) press junkets. He tried to "guide" her on saying thank you to the producers, etc. As previous poster said, she was living her truth. I don't know if I blamed her really because her role was so intense that I don't know that I would have been able to keep rehashing and rehashing for every single press interview. On the other hand, that is what she signed up for.
As for the role of Cookie, Lee Daniels denied speaking to Mo'Nique about it and she provided the email receipts a few years ago.

I can't speak to the on stage but I do think there comes a defining moment for most POC raised in mostly white environments where you realize the you v. them attitude. From that moment on I don't think you're able to laugh, brush it off, or utilize any other coping technique you've employed before. It's sad but at the same time essential...

Apparently, Monique did a Periscope, and said that she felt betrayed by Oprah. Monique's brother or his people called Oprah asking to be on the show. Oprah called Monique and asked how she felt about that. Monique said you do you, I don't have anything to do with him. Monique's parent's were also on there, and she didn't have a good relationship with her mother at the time, and Oprah new that.
Oprah had the parents on the show and Monique felt betrayed.
iammalcolmx , were you listening to V103 this morning? Ryan and Wanda were re-playing Monique's follow up stating that Tyler Perry called her after she put this out there. She then told him thanks for calling but I don't hold your secrets. This is kind of jaw-dropping and reaaaaaally putting this man's business out there where he doesn't like it.
I thought the Monique/Lee Daniels issue had to do with Empire.
I really don't like Tyler Perry, can't get with Oprah, and don't know enough about Lee Daniels, but I believe everything Monique is saying. So he is on my list too.
Well I hate Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and only tolerate Oprah, so I'm team Monique.
We love you, Ms. Parker!!
I really don't want to know the answer but I am going to ask anyway. Why do you hate them?? ::sits in fear::
Have you ever seen a Tyler Perry movie? Lol. So bad. He clearly hates black women, despite having made millions dressing up as a black female stereotype for laughs. Every one of his movies involved a deeply damaged, angry black woman who is saved by the love of a good black man. Boyfriend has issues.
Lee Daniels has made a number of problematic statements. I'd need to google for receipts, but they're there.
Oprah is entirely too extra, but I'm obligated to love her anyway. She's an odd one, but I can't quit her.
