Hello! I'm definitely pretty basic when it comes to make up and moisturizers, so I need some help. I recently went to my first dermatology appt ever at the age of 34, and not surprisingly, my doctor emphasized that I needed to start wearing spf every day (I live in South Florida, so full sun here every day).
For face, what do you recommend? An spf moisturizer under the make up (if so, any recommendations?) or is there a particular brand of make up with SPF that I should seek out?
I usually use trader joe's sunscreen spray on my body when I go to the beach, but that doesn't seem like a good plan for everyday wear. Is there a good sunscreen for my arms and such that doesn't have a strong odor?
I thought this was going to be simple, but once I started browsing different products, things got incredibly complicated! Thanks for any recommendations you might have!
I find myself switching back and forth between biore sunscreens from Japan (I like several of the formulations) and coola cucumber face.
For body I still really like coola sprays or tommy Bahamas sprays for the good scents, though they do have unscented. I find them at tj maxx and eBay for more reasonable prices than other places. Though I use those out at the pool and don't really do an everyday wear for my body.
The Biore one linked above is my fav for face and works great under makeup. For body I like Sun Bum brand. It has a banana beach scent to it but it doesn't linger too much.
If you're outside at all, you really need an actual sunscreen as opposed to a moisturizer or foundation that contains spf. Those have such small amounts, generally, that you would need to use quite a bit of product to get adequate coverage.
A lot people like the Biore sunscreens, but personally the one I tried was greasy on my oily skin. I really love MDSolarSciences and Coola for face sunscreens. They both wear really well under makeup.

I just found the best sunscreen ever. I've used more expensive brands, but this is my favorite. It is australian gold spf 50 tinted physical sunscreen. I do wonder how it would go on mid-dark skin, as it is tinged a beige color. But for my pale face, it blends out invisibly. I loveeeee it! I found it on a review from hotandflashy's YouTube. She mentions a few others if you want to watch her video.

I have been meaning to try this. Great to hear another recommendation for it. Hot and Flashy on youtube is my gold standard for everything skin care. She has also recommended this one:
It is fabulous. It's MATTE! Every single sunscreen I've ever had is really shiny. Love it.
Another thing sunscreen thing that Hot and Flashy always talks about is the importance of putting sunscreen on your neck, chest and the backs of your hands.

I feel like the Australian gold one really helps me control oil too, which is a great plus.
I'm super picky about feel, texture, and smell on my face and love the coola tinted BB cream or cucumber face stuff (basically the same stuff just not tinted).
The new one is supposed to be water resistant. I wouldn't wear it to the pool or beach, but I wear it every day in the Florida heat and it holds up well.
For every day body sunscreen, I usually use cheaper face sunscreen. Anything else smells too strongly and is sticky. Here are some I like (I have them all on subscribe and save -- I use them on myself and my kids daily (when I remember)):
