Abby's class had the puberty video today, and she came up with lots of questions during dinner. She asked me if I would answer any question, and I said yes.
We just spent the last half hour at the dinner table talking about babies, periods, penises, boobs and sex.
Some of the high points: "If we have eggs, why are we not birds?" "What if a woman doesn't want to have a baby, but her husband has sex with her while she's sleeping?" "Why do we have boobs?"
DH rather quickly took Caleb up to take a shower and then sat in the living room playing Nintendo.
I'm glad she felt free to ask me anything, and she thanked me for answering her questions. I had hoped to not worry about some of these questions for another year or two.
However, I'm dreading talking about this with my own kids, lol
It's definitely more than a single conversation. I think it helped getting her the "Care and Keeping of You" when she was 8, because it helped her read and ask questions at her own pace. I've also never shied from answering her questions matter-of-factly, so she knows she can ask.
You're doing good that she is happy talking to you and answering her questions. For anyone else, I'd say you deserve a glass of wine. Maybe have a stiff cup of herbal tea and some chocolate instead?!
