I thought it might be helpful for people to share their skincare routines so people can ask questions about particular products and see examples of what people are doing.
Here is what I'm suggesting -
Age: (feel free to type a range if you don't want to share your exact age) Skin Type: Skin Concerns:
AM routine: PM routine: Any special things you do: such as see a facialist, derm, anything you do once in a while and not regularly
Post by mrsukyankee on May 20, 2017 9:34:04 GMT -5

I want to add my quick routine for nights where I'm out late:
PM routine: Banilla Clean It Zero (first cleanse) Bioderma Micellar Water (second cleanse) Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - I do the 3 skin method (put on face and pat in 3x) as it's really hydrating Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream x 2 (I put on a heavier layer)
Age: 27 Skin Type: prone to hormonal acne, sensitive Concerns: anti aging, lightening PIH, evening out texture
AM routine: micellar water on a bamboo cloth; p50 lotion; vitamin C serum; derma E vitamin C moisturizer
PM routine: remove makeup with micellar water wipe; cleanse with Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser; epiduo; snail mucin; same moisturizer as am... sometimes acute 'the magical wonderfluff' if I need extra hydration
I have a PMD (micro derm tool) I use 2x month. I have face masks, oils, and sleeping packs I'll use as needed. I also recently started shaving my face (yep).

note on my routines- I am constantly trying new products and samples in search of better options and for fun, but below I'll put my basic/most recent routines.

Currently that would be either Tarte's Maracuja or Boscia's Tsubaki. -Fresh Sugar Advanced Lip Treatment
Any special things you do: A couple of times a week, I use a lip exfoliator (either Tarte or Elf). More so in the winter, I'll throw in sheet masking a couple times a week. I also do purifying masks maybe once a week or once every two weeks (currently that is Caudalie's Detox mask). For pimples that pop up, I like Clinique's Clinical Clearing Gel to spot treat.

ETA: Items in bold are recent changes to my routine after investing in TO products
Age: 37 Skin Type: Normal, prone to isolated pimples Skin Concerns: Aging, acne scars, my own general laziness (I'm my own worst enemy)
I just started paying attention to skin care. Previously all I did was cleanse/moisturize in the morning. I'm still figuring things out and experimenting with products. My skin is not temperamental in any other circumstance but I'll break out if a cream is too heavy.
AM routine: Acure sensitive skin cleanser (in shower) Simple micellar water to clean up any old eyeliner/mascara Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion Drunk Elephant C-Firma Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench (think this might be breaking me out) Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Moisture Defense Lotion (another candidate for breaking me out)
Once a week I use Kate Somerville Exfolikate and twice a week I use Mario Badescu Glycolic Cleanser in place of the Acure.
PM routine: I'm trying to get something going beyond just passing out in bed at the end of the day. I'm terrible about this.

Every so often I'll also do a BHA/AHA nightly treatment. So I'll cleanse, apply BHA, wait 20 minutes, swipe off, apply AHA, wait 20 minutes, wash face again and proceed with the rest of my routine.
Age: 33 Skin Type: Historically sensitive and dry, but getting more in the normal zone as I age and use better cleansers. Skin concerns: Hormonal acne, prone to pitting and hyperpigmentation. Wrinkles and super dry, thin skin under my eyes

PM routine: Any special things you do: such as see a facialist, derm, anything you do once in a while and not regularly - DE Pekee soap (will likely not repurchase because pH is a little too high) - DE TLC Framboos serum (alternate nights with Retin A) - DE Lala Retro moisturizer + DE Marula oil - PC retinal serum + PC moisture boost (eye area)
I tried the Asian beauty care regimen but ultimately didn't have the time to wait in between all the steps (especially actives), and didn't really fee my skin looked any better so I stopped.
I am getting a facial in July, and would like to go see her 2x/year going forward. I also see a dermatologist every 1.5 years (depends on what he recommends) for skin checks.

Have you tried the CeraVe Healing Ointment? It's in a blue bottle. It kind of looks like Vaseline, but it's less greasy (and hasn't caused any breakouts for me). It might be a good option as a final step at night. It doesn't dry down matte, so it's not an option for me during the day. Plus, it's fairly inexpensive for what you get and a bottle will likely last you YEARS.
Wash with TJs All-in-One cleanser The Ordinary Buffet The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin serum The Ordinary Niacinamide serum The Ordinary Azelaic Acid The Ordinary Caffeine serum under eyes Keihls Creamy Avocado under eyes A tinted moisturizer with SPF or Shiseido sunscreen and makeup
PM routine:
Oil cleanser (have been trying a homemade castor oil/grapeseed concoction, but it doesn't lather or come off easily; will likely get more TJs Oil Cleanser) Wash with TJs All-in-One cleanser Tretinoin (aka retinoid) Paula's Choice Resist retinol serum under eyes and on neck The Ordinary Vitamin C The Ordinary Hyulornic Acid Sometimes Evening Primrose Oil Sometimes Benton Steam Cream Keihls Creamy Avocado under eyes
Note: I'm still figuring out how I want to distribute my Ordinary serums, and I want to reincorporate some snail action and find a cheap way to use ginseng.
Any special things you do: K-beauty masks, but I'm not as into them as I used to be IPL facials quarterly Used to get botox for my 11s, but DH is imploring me to quit Chemical peels every couple of years Vascular therapy last fall (zapping the burst blood vessels)

I try to keep mine as simple as I can too. With all the traveling, I can't carry too much stuff with me.
Age: 34 Skin Type: Combination Skin Concerns: Hormonal cystic acne and acne scarring around the chin and mouth area.
AM routine: Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Cleanser, massage on face for maybe 30 seconds Simple Soothing Facial Toner The Ordinary Buffet First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Gel Cream First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer
PM routine: Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes KS Eradikate, massage for 30 seconds and I use an electric face brush on the gentle setting for another 30 seconds. Ole Henriksen Truth Serum The Ordinary Buffet The Ordinary Caffeine around my eyes. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer
Any special things you do: I use those Tony Moly face sheets every weekend. My favourite is the Moisturizing and Skin Purifying ones. I also try to stay hydrated and I'm trying my best to avoid sugars and dairy because based on my food diary, those are the main culprit for my breakouts. I started changing my pillow case every 3 days. We change the sheets every 2 weeks and I used to have the same case for 2 weeks. I also try not to sleep facedown.
Note: I really need to add sunscreen to my AM routine. I'm waiting on my shipment of Watery Essence.
tacom I would love to hear more about the PMD. How do you think it compares to getting microderm by an esthetician?
I can't tell you that - I've never seen an esthetician. But I love the device and you can definitely go easy or amp up the exfoliation depending on which discs you use and your technique. I'd recommend YouTube videos before you purchase!
Age: 39 Skin Type: Normal to dry Skin Concerns: Dry in winter
Day to day routine - nothing If I've worn makeup - remove eye makeup with micelar water, wipe face makeup with makeup eraser, wash face with Origins cleanser
If I'm feeling dry - Origins overnight moisturizer
Age: 40 Skin Type: Dry Skin Concerns: I have had ugly melasma for years. Dryness. I am also showing more signs of aging.
AM routine: Normally I just use water to clean my face, but since I am treating the melasma, I am using cetaphil or cerave hydrating cleanser. Moisturizer- Kiehls’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream (no spf because it is also a nighttime cream) Started using it about a month ago and love how hydrating it is. Daily Sunscreen - Kiehls's Super Fluid UV Mineral Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50+
I have to use mineral sunscreen due to the hyperpigmentation so if anyone has a recommendation for a stronger sunblock I can wear at the beach, that will be greatly appreciated. I use a hat on top of sunscreen that I re-apply regularly but I need more protection.
PM routine:
I rotate cleansers I have available (I am using a sample of Eclos and I really like that it removes all make up at once without drying my skin.) Right now I am just using the cream my dermatologist prescribed for the melasma (hydroquinone + tretinoin + steroid). Otherwise, I moisturize with Kiehls’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream and a Clinique eye cream I am finishing. May try a Kiehls's eye cream next.
I'm updating now that I've landed on a steady routine. Products may update as I run out.
Age: 37 Skin Type: Normal but can go oily occasionally Skin Concerns: Aging, acne scars, occasional breakouts
AM Routine: Micellar water for any leftover makeup, optional Treatment: The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% on forehead and 11s (3x/wk) Antioxidants: Timeless Vitamin C/Ferulic Acid serum Essence: The Ordinary Buffet Lotion: Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion Eye Cream, as needed: Mizon Snail Repair Moisturizer: Belif Aqua Bomb Sunscreen: Biore Aqua Rich
PM Routine: Oil cleanser: Heimish All Clean Balm Foam cleanser: Clean & Clear Essentials sensitive skin face wash Essence: Sulwhasoo First Care serum Sheet mask (2x/wk): Assorted Exfoliator (2x/wk): Drunk Elephant Framboos Emulsion (skip if I'm oily): Sulwhasoo Balancing Emulsion Moisturizer (mixed with Retinoid 2x/wk): Sulwhasoo Ginseng Renewing Cream / The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% Acne patch if needed: CosRx Master Patch
My hormones are haywire at the moment so my skin is also going through some stuff. I adjust as needed.
Lightening up on my morning moisturizer made a big difference. The Aqua Bomb might become my HG if my chin breakouts disappear.
