They boys love their yumbox, we have both the 4 and 6 compartment ones. It is dishwasher safe but they do recommend you don't run it through the drying stage and there's no way I'd remember to pull it out so I always wash by hand.
I just take the kids to Target and let them pick whatever character/fun lunchbox they want every year. It gets them excited about school. Henry is now to old/too cool for characters so we may finally invest in a plain quality one next year.

These look cool! Do you put them in a bag?
I don't have to send lunches yet but we use them when we go out a lot, for now I just toss them in a backback but I will invest in a lunch bag for kindergarten.
We have 3 LL Bean ones that we've been using daily since B was a baby. My H and I both use them for our lunches, and the one that housed B's bottles as an infant is now his lunchbox. They machine wash great, and the handles have stood up for 5 years now.
We also have pbk lunch boxes and I toss them in the washer then dryer about once a month and they have held up great! Olivia has had hers for at lest three and a half years and will continue using it next year.
This year we have a yumbox inside of a Hannah lunch box last year we did Hannah and have done pbk as well I prefer Hannah over pbk We also do the lunch bag for snacks since we need 2 separate containers for school And Hannah monograms do win win
