I feel like I've been away from work for weeks although it's only been 4 days. Lol. I wish we got summers off. The corporate world should really look into following the school system. .
I had to pull a tick out of Claire's head this morning. Tough girl didn't even flinch. Olivia would have lost her mind. Funny how different they can be. And ticks, yuck!
bean47 I'm sorry. I am freaking out about ticks, I've heard they are extra bad this year because of the mild winter. so far we've just pulled a ton off the dog and I haven't found any on a child yet but it's only a matter of time. Last year I found one hiding behind Williams ear more than once. ugggggh
Had it burrowed in already? do you just wait and see or go in for antibiotics immediately? I've only found them still moving on the kids so far.
Matilda spilled a cup of water on top of the receiver box yesterday. She brought a cup of water in and set it there then knocked it over. We were so mad. It's completely ruined because she didn't even tell us, so H tried to turn it on to put on a movie for them and heard a crazy pop sound and went to look and it was completely soaked.
I'm not sure how to punish her, but for now we've said she has to clean her playroom every single night and we won't be able to buy her anything for a while or go to a restaurant or starbucks. We don't buy her things often anyway but I told her I'd buy her a hula hoop and now I said she might have to wait for a long time because of how much money the box will cost. And she is no longer allowed to eat or drink anything outside of the kitchen or sitting at the dining table.
my kids have no respect for things. William is still young but matilda is five and a smart kid, she should have respect for stuff at this point but she doesn't. When she realized how bad it was/how upset we were she cried for a long time but it wasn't real remorse ...just sad because people were mad at her. I don't think she'll learn from this?? I don't know. Sometimes I think I'm not cut out for this gig

I'm on a class trip for a math league competition today so I have more down time than usual. Thought I'd stop by and say hi and see how everyone is doing.
laurack,I'm sorry she ruined something A doesn't respect things either. That's one of the most surprising things about this age to me, I thought A would have gained that ability by now. So M is not alone.

part of me thinks ... maybe I'm being too hard on her... she's only 5. But I feel like I don't want to fall into this trap of not expecting her to behave and just allowing stuff. I think she's at an age now where she really has to start learning to respect stuff. I don't want to raise children who don't respect their own and other peoples things.

Stupid question - how do you look for ticks on your dog?? I know I'm supposed to be searching Millie, but she has so much black curly hair...I brush her every day and pet/play with her obsessively, but I can't really fathom how I would even see a tick on her...

We would sort of feel/massage our dog and could feel them. Feel for bumps usually around the neck, head or ears.

A trampoline park near us is doing a summer pass. For $75, we can go two hours a day until august. This place has a Ninja course and rock wall, too. I have a feeling we'll be here a couple of times a week. Normally, we'd easily spend $25 each time we came.

Everyone keeps talking about how bad they are but thankfully, this was our first this year. It has started to go in, head stuck in but not engorged. The dr office said just watch the spot we pulled it for infection (it did bleed a little) and that it would have needed to be on longer to transmit Lyme. It was also a larger tick not a tiny deer tick. My skin is crawling today.
So my ILs want to go to MX next year with us. They are paying so I don't really have a say in anything other than saying no we aren't going. Anyways they asked for us to send them some resorts we liked to look at. So we sent them 4 resorts that had everything we wanted! Well they sent us info back from a travel planner person and it's a totally different resort, which is fine, except it's 1/2 mile from the beach, no kids club, and its a condo and the room we would get is 2 double beds. I can't share a double bed for a week omg save me. I also don't want a condo, we did that at Disney and it was far too close for a week, I need space sometimes.
@devenpow same as bean, my husband just feels all over her body for bumps. Luckily every tick pulled off her has been a larger dog tick which makes me panic less as they don't carry Lyme
I survived the day I was only able to find time to pump twice so that sucked and I feel like a greasy sweaty mess despite that's it's in the 50s I'm beyond hungry bc I felt weird grabbing breadfast in the kitchen then pumping so I only had a small salad for lunch
Tomorrow will be better Can't wait to see the clan

I'm so annoyed with my IL's. They are watching A this week because he's done with school and MH still has one more week. They took him to Culver's (a fast food restaurant of some sort, I'm not really sure) for lunch. Not thrilled with that decision, as we don't eat fast food, and they know this, but what's done is done. I picked him up and he had swim practice, which is only 15 mins, and then gymnastics. He was so lethargic and I chalked it up to both activities and eating a junk lunch. When we finished, he ended up having loose bowels. We skipped gymnastics, and at dinner he ended up projectile vomiting everywhere. Turns out, his lunch was a grilled cheese sandwich, deep fried cheese curds, French fries, chocolate milk, and an Oreo milkshake. Omg what!! I felt so bad for him, but he seems to be feeling better now. Needless to say I'll be packing a lunch the rest of the week.
Back to real life. I received the dreaded "come get your puking child" call from daycare this afternoon and I can't decide whether to WFH or burn a vacation day tomorrow. Decisions decisions.
So far crackers and applesauce have stayed down! <)

Picking up the girls was the best. We got to be there when D woke up from her nap and she wouldn't stop kissing me. H ran like crazy when she saw us. Now....things are back to normal and we are tired lol

laurack, not a lot of things really make my H mad but he would lose his mind if that had happened. I'm sorry! I asked what his punishment would be and he said no movies, but then we lose. So he recanted and said no sound with tv. lol He was getting heated just thinking about it.

Yes I said we are punishing her by not giving them a movie after all but we'd been stuck inside all day and i was losing my mind .. i needed that movie to go on !!!
I told her again today how sad we were and how it was terrible, now I can't afford to go to Starbucks any more .. and she cried and said I could have her piggy bank money
Then she went into an elaborate story about how the reason she's been saving this piggy bank money all this time was just in case someday she accidentally spilled water on the "tv box"
She can spin a yarn but she can't keep a damn cup in the kitchen ...
W was 'mad at me' this morning because I had to wake him to get him ready for daycare. He was mad at being woken up. I told him that he wakes me up every weekend morning so we're not exactly even! And ps...why the hell cant he sleep in until 6:45 on the weekends instead of 5:45 which seems to be the norm lately
Ugh @lindy. Can you ask why they like that place better? Maybe see if there are any 3 bedroom condos so you don't have to share a room with the kids?
They just want to share a condo. Now they're looking at a 3 bedroom, but my BIL and niece/nephew are coming too so it'd be for 9 people! Too.many.people for my introvert self.
Hi! The girls are good! Going to really buckle down and potty train S once I get out for summer. Speaking of work, I just accepted a new job at the elementary school (currently in middle) so I'm hoping that will be the change I needed.
