I love their tool kit. It has all the tools you need for basic stuff, including a screw driver with like 12 inter-changable heads, including many common for assembling things, not just Ikea, in addition to regular screw driver heads, all in a tidy little pack the size of a dictionary. I think it is around $8.

Just keep in mind that IKEA doesn't use plastic sacks (which is so awesome). You can buy the large blue bags at check out, but if you already use reusable bags you may as well take them with. I don't really like the ones IKEA sells, they're big and awkward to carry. It's just personal preference though.
I only make it to IKEA about every 4-5 years. We went last summer because we were re-doing our master bedroom.
Just a heads up (something that maybe others know but I did not, oops!): You should know what size curtains you need if you plan to buy them and then have them cut them for you to size. I am so used to buying curtains at, like, Target, and they are all automatically the right length. So I didn't even bother looking at the measurements at IKEA or knowing how long I need. Yeah--they were SUPER long. Then I found out they can cut them to size at IKEA (for a small fee). Live and learn!

I love their blue sacks. I have so many in my home. I use them as laundry baskets since I can fold them small to store.

Lots of LLR consultants use them to carry merchandise!

Wait, what? They cut the curtains to the length you need? I did not know this! Do they also hem/finish the new edge? *would have been super useful for the curtains I have hanging in the dining room with a good 6-inch “pool” on the ground!SaveSave

I can't find the info on their website now, but when I looked online last summer (after realizing OMG this curtains are way too fucking long), I know I saw something about them cutting them there for a fee. (I may have also seen this advertised in store and just didn't think I needed it at the time!) I also wonder if you could have them cut them in their fabric dept? They also sell hemming tape so you wouldn't have to cut them--I wonder how well that would work. Needless to say, since I live 3+ hours from an IKEA and did not feel like dealing with any of this, I ended up buying different curtains altogether at Target lol.

I use one for food shopping (with a separate bag for cold stuff). One trip into the house!
They have a lot of good stuff in the kitchen section, from cheap paper napkins to pots.
Their lamp selection is rubbish IMO.
Their almond cake is nice, I always get some to take home.
Yeah, I just like their little accent lamps. I got one similar to the below for DS1's room as a nightlight and it was awesome. Of course, it got broken and I'm hoping to find another.

We had the same thing happen. I keep looking on EBay and other BST sites to see if anyone is selling that older model lamp. I kept the shade just in case. It matches his room so nicely but the lamp broke so easily! Tag me if you find one.
We have an IKEA opening 10 minutes from our new house. We're going to wait until there are fewer crowds (opening day is Wednesday), but I foresee lots of money being spent.

I'll buck the tide and say I love their lighting. You have to be careful - not all of it is good quality - but we have two lamps from there that still look brand new and are at least 7 years old. We've also installed a lot of their hard wired pieces without any trouble at all.
If you're a sewer, check out their fabrics. I also like their throw pillow covers. And take a look at the kitchen utensils - we have their nonstick tongs and they're the best pair we've owned!

I like their scrub brushes for dishes (they come in a couple of colors) I just recently bought some collapsible laundry baskets for my kids' rooms. I think they were $7?
I panic when I feel like I'm in a place I can't leave.
Damn, I do too but I never thought of IKEA this way. Ugh, now you've got me feeling anxious just thinking about it.
I'm sorry that I've ruined IKEA for you Normal stores? no problem! Door's right there. IKEA? I feel like I have to go around a maze for 10 minutes to GTFO
