I'm happy that they're trying to recruit more African Americans for Alzheimer's studies, but sad at it's current state, that there are so few. Alzheimer's such a horrible disease.
African Americans are nearly invisible in clinical Alzheimer’s trials: Despite representing more than 20 percent of the 5.5 million Americans who have the disease, African Americans account for only 3 to 5 percent of trial participants, according to researchers (the lower number is the one I heard quoted most often).
This is sad. One of my good friends had her mom pass from Alzheimer's and her dad from dementia like 3 months apart from each other. It was such a sad thing to witness.
