Well we had some good adventures this week. Saturday we drove up to a little town that I got to know last month while working on a project, and I showed DS around. There was one spot in particular that I wanted to show him, but I didn't realize that it was only open for 3 hours in the middle of the day, and we ended up getting there too late. Actually DS and I managed that disappointment pretty well.
Today was a bit rough though. My goal was to get to the zoo so that we could meet some friends for a long-overdue playdate. It's been hard for all the normal reasons that it's hard, but on top of that, DS didn't want to play with this particular boy "because he didn't know him very well." This is actually one of my oldest mom friends, we were in a postnatal group together, we just don't get to spend much time with them. So, talked DS through that. Unfortunately, though, I did a poor job of managing DS's blood sugar throughout the day. Doesn't help that I slept in a bit and he helped himself. But I also made the mistake of trusting him too much .... we had agreed when we got home that he could have 3 pieces of candy, and I made the mistake of trusting him (I had a headache and went to lie down), and he helped himself to something like 8. After which of course he was bouncing off the walls, kicking me in bed and yelling at me to get up to entertain him. Massive parenting fail on my part. And of course all of my talk about keeping agreements and dealing with consequences fell on deaf ears. Somehow I managed to compress bedtime, though, so I can clean up a bit of the disaster that was this afternoon.
Yikes, freezor. Hugs and hopefully the start of your week was smooth.
We went to a Daniel Tiger storytime and character meet & greet on Saturday. I thought L would be excited because she loves books about him. It was not surprisingly super crowded, but she didn't hit any kids which has been our latest battle so that was a plus. She didn't care about seeing Daniel in person and honestly just seemed confused. I'm glad we saw him walk by while she was in the toddler area when she said no to meeting him as opposed to waiting in the long, long line.
