We replace the sponge every two weeks or so, but I clean it in a bleach solution every other day. We replace the brush every two or three months, but it's cleaned in the bleach solution as well.
I use a scrub brush, but when I use a sponge I replace it every two weeks or so. MIL uses a sponge and seriously never ever sanitizes that thing or replaces it...maybe once every few months. It's so gross. Blech!

We usually use a dish brush, they're really great and Swedes use them all the time but I haven't seen them that often in the US. Sometimes we use a sponge, we usually have both out and use whichever is best for that dish. We replace them when they're dirty, no set time frame.
Dishcloth- I use once then toss in the wash. Sponges- every day I get a new one, or every other day if I am having a brainfart and forget. Tea towels- I use as long as I can, but they are lucky to make it an entire day.
I am freaking forever in the kitchen. Between meals, snacks, and weird schedules I spend a minimum of 4 hours a day just cooking and washing dishes.

Wow. I am impressed.
We usually go a couple of weeks with a sponge. In most things, DH has a lower dirt tolerance than I do, but I'm usually the one who throws out the sponges and gets a new one while he thinks it's still got a few months left in it. ::shudders::

We use a sponge that is supposed to have lower bacteria counts (and then I microwave it often and replace every other week). I used to use a brush, but started getting complaints because it was "annoying" and "muy aburrido." WHY does your cleaning stuff have to be exciting? Dunno.

Ew, no sponges in my kitchen. I have a brush that is used in case of caked on egg emergency, but otherwise it's straight into the dishwasher, no rinsing.
Dishwasher for us. And a brush for anything that is washed in the sink. Seperate brush for N's bottles to the regular brush too. Any sponges are for scouring only really and get thrown in the wash every now and then or just in the bin, depending on usage.
Dish Cloth... As soon as moved I was so happy to ditch the sponges and go buy cheap cloths at Walmart. I probably switch it out every 3-4 days. I should really get in the habit of everyday. We have enough to do it.
I don't mind the brushes but I don't usually use them. DH drives me mad because he leaves the washing utensil in the sink everytime. Then it stays wet or gets covered by dishes! Argh.
I mostly use the dishwasher but for big or non-dishwasher stuff I use a sponge or a dish brush. I wash the dish brush in the dishwasher every other day. I replace the sponge about once a week.
I have a weird habit of buying a pack of sponges every time I go grocery shopping, now that H has noticed my stock, he reminds me that we don't need sponges when I go shopping. It has been seriously a hard habit to break!
I try to make a sponge last a really long time and to clean it I soak in hydrogen peroxide every few days or put it in the dishwasher, when I'm lazy. That must not do much germ-wise, I should simply stop and let it soak more often.
