I just realized that I haven't seen "NWPR" in a long time. I like it.
We're replacing our roof and I have to decide on a color. My top two choices are grey and dark grey. My honorable mention/outside-the-box color is bluish. The shutters are evergreen. Someday (which may never come) I'd like to paint the shudders a dark teal and plant red roses out front or keep our beautiful magenta blossoms (not a gardner - no idea what the flower is). Suddenly I'm really feeling the blue (maybe navy shutters). Am I crazy?
This is my house:
Here are the colors in no particular order:
ETA: If you like the blue, tell me what you think I would need to do with my shutters.
Also, does anyone know how to change your shutter color? Can you paint them or do you have to buy new ones?

I can't figure out how to edit my post on tapatalk, but I would imagine you can just paint your shutters. If they are really smooth like they have some sort of finish you may have to sand them first.
I tend to like the dark grey (charcoal better). However, lighter colors are more energy efficient since they reflect more heat if that's a factor for you.
I like the blue! But I am on out of the box person when it comes to my house. I would think Navy shutters would look great with it!! Also, I love your house!
I spent way too much time looking at roofs last year to form this opinion:
We went with dark grey. I feel it's neutral but is dark enough to hide the "wear and tear" a bit more than lighter roofs. I like the look of the lighter grey but when I looked around our neighborhood, I felt that the lighter tiles showed color differentiation easier (as in, over time, water patterns/general weather and environmental effects). I'm not doing a good job describing it.
I'd avoid a color like blue only because I feel like it limits you.

I think you can just paint the shutters. We completely changed the color scheme of our house a few years ago. I don't remember any special issues arising from painting shutters.
Unsolicited advice/comment: I just saw something the other day about solar roof tiles. I haven't done my own research but the article I read said the price is competitive with conventional roof tiles. Might be worth looking into. I know we would if we needed to replace our roof.

It's definitely between the charcoal and blue. I'm leaning hard toward the blue. It seems like it would class up the joint and make it seem more peaceful than the screaming from inside might suggest. But I'm worried about fading, staining, and matching the right blue on the shutters and door... I'm doing a driveby this weekend to see another house with blue, so maybe it'll sway me one way or another.

I voted dark charcoal.
Oh, love this idea. I think some utility companies also offer rebates for this, it's worth looking into. SaveSave

I don't like a dark coloured roof, so I've voted for the grey colour. I'm also going to paint my roof and I found a good source that provided me with the useful tips and tutorial on how to do it. Maybe this information will be helpful for you too. Good luck!
