I finally had my ortho appt yesterday and as suspected he is fairly sure my hip has a labral tear...my other hip already has a confirmed tear. Lol! Guess I no longer have a good hip. I am starting to think I'm not meant to run longer distances!!
Got cortisone injection so hopefully I can ease back into shorter distances soon. I'm getting so bummed to miss out on warm weather running!
I'm heading to the lake to paddle board. Should be epically comic.
I went to my doc yesterday and he said I can do the whole Olympic tomorrow, but he wants me to walk the first half of the run to focus on activating my hips and glutes before running. 😐 I mean, it's better than doing the Aquabike, but basically I'll be shutting down the course. Lame. I'm planning to balls out the bike just to see what I can do.
I am so.sore. I think I tweaked something in my ahoulder/neck area yesterday doing the challenge rope course at the zoo.
Today just hanging around. My allergies are killing me and my in laws don't have ac so between being sore and that I am pretty miserable. Continued house searching online and waiting to hear back from the realtor to see if she can take us out saturday.
I'm struggling with plantar fasciitis right now. I'm doing lots of stretching and trying to wear shoes in the house (I usually go barefoot at home). Ugh it's really annoying!

I did a local 5k after not running since Ragnar in May. Not my best time, but it was about what I expected. My knee started to get a little angry during the last 3/4 mile which slowed me down, but it didn't make sense to push at that point, which was up a cobblestone hill.
I want to vent about walkers lining up too close to the front of a run/ walk. The organizers kept making announcements to encourage walkers to move to the back, but there were 1800 people in a pretty small start area and not many people listened. (I'm obviously a slow runner, so I'm not talking about that - these were people just walking it. That's awesome, and I'm glad they came out for an awesome charity, but move over! )
I'd also like to judge the mom whose young son was out there running in flip flops with her. I hate flip flops in most situations, but running/ walking 3 miles on slippery pavement and cobblestones is just dangerous.
My long run was only 6 miles this week, so I did it early. Knowing that I can get it done early is encouraging for planning to run a marathon next year.
My 70.3 training partner is really hesitant on the bike. Her first ride on her new road bike, a huge great dane jumped on her, knocked her down and popped her tire. It's hard to mentally recover from that and not be nervous every time she gets on the bike.

It is so abso-freaking-lutely scorching outside. I do not want to be outside for more time than it takes to get into the car, so going to the pool sounds awful. (And at this point, like it would be too warm, which is likely) I'm even getting up at 6am in order to take the dog for a walk before it gets too hot - and this morning it was already 85 and I was sweating like a madman before I got back.
WS100 does, in fact, require wetsuits (or dry suits) for volunteers - but at least they're free to rent from a local kayak/rafting supplier. I'm hoping for a nice loose drysuit instead of a chokingly tight wetsuit, but we'll see.
I'm volunteering to kayak for a friend's Tahoe crossing on July 10th and it's so exciting! I can't wait to see her face when she finishes!
I got an email yesterday that I got into Mt. Hood 50 (I was waaay down on the waiting list) but it's July 8 and my IT band is just not ready for it. I'm also starting to think my 50 in August might not happen and I'm super bummed (but I'm going to keep doing my PT stuff, going to ART and gradually increase mileage just to see if I can salvage any part of the race). Such a bummer.
I have to make it until 9pm tonight and then I can declare survival if my hellacious week between working 60 hours and driving into the district every day. I'm celebrating by going the fuck to sleep.

I would like to consign the frustration with the heat. I ran yesterday at 6:30 in the morning and it was *only* 72° and felt like a revelation. My AC in my office can't keep up, so I'm giving up when it hits 88° with the unit running.
Also, #runnerscoldsareworsethanmancolds. I am miserable.

I haven't been posting much lately because I'm not really training for anything right now. Or maybe I should say I haven't committed to anything yet. I signed up for a summer marathon program, but it was mostly so I could do my long runs with my friends in the group. The idea of actually training for, and running, a marathon is stressing me out right now. I may cut the longer training runs short and just run a couple of halfs in the fall. I also need to find time to get back in the pool, now that it's open again for the summer.
I finally buckled down and managed to lose some of the weight I gained last year. I gained 10 pounds between June 2016 and April 2017. I was having a hard time getting motivated, but I finally got a kick in the pants when I saw photos of myself from our trip to FL in April. They were not good. I'd like to lose 4 more pounds in 4 weeks, before our cruise at the end of July.
Good luck this weekend taratru! Even having to walk part of it (ew) you will do great! I am so excited for you. boston340, H has PF right now and hates wearing shoes around the house. I hate that the most comfortable shoes for him right now seem to be crocs. mrs.jacinthe and irene adler, that is awful. I remember driving from Truckee to the bay and it was always SO HOT where mrs.jacinthe lives. Like 30 degrees hotter than the mountains or the bay. Awful. I am getting to the point in pregnancy that working out feels good while I do it, but afterwards my body is in misery for HOURS or days after. I even cut out walking and switched to the elliptical (SO BORING) and it is still causing me to be in agony. I thought I was dying last night.

I haven't been around too much because running is just not happening. My back is SO much better than it was 6 months ago, so I am worried about messing with a good thing. I have been kickboxing for the last 3 months, and I am in love with it. I get to spend half of every class putting on gloves and punching a bag. It has helped immensely with my stress over work and the funk I was in from not exercising.
My oh crap moment came when I noticed that I cannot get my wedding rings on ever since I sprained my wrist a month ago. I am in no pain, and it doesn't even look swollen. I am terribly afraid it is really because I am fat. Time to get my head out of my butt and lose the 15+ lbs I gained from eating all the junk during my pity party.

libbygrl109, I really want a kickboxing gym to open where I live.
I am absolutely in love with it. There are some around me that just opened, but these classes is at my son's karate dojo. The classes fit perfectly with his class schedule, and I love the instructors. They don't care that I can't do some kicks or ab work because of my back (I just modify like crazy, even when I want to haul off with a solid roundhouse). I still always leave with sweat pouring off of me.

I have a punching bag at home. It's a great way to relieve stress/frustrations. That was actually the whole reason dh got it for me 😜
