So I'm applying for a job. It's at an international NGO type thing.
Questions: they ask for a motivation letter. Is that like a cover letter? I'm thinking yes.
They ask for three references. They don't say professional references, but I'm thinking that's what they mean, right? I'm thinking a former supervisor, former colleague, and my thesis advisor from my master's degree. Do you think that's OK? It's really not common to ask for references here. Also, I should ask these people if they're OK being my references, right?
I have never heard of a motivational letter, so I assume cover letter. I think your references are on point, and yes let them know before hand so they can be prepared. As the person checking references, I want to know what kind of an employee I can expect, not just that you are a nice person, which would be more of a personal reference.
