I know the board is dead but there's still tons of views so hopefully someone will have suggestions!
The boys and I are flying DFW on Saturday July 8, we will drive there on Friday and spend the night. It's about a 5 hour drive we hope to be on the road pretty early and get there around lunchtime.
We would like to do the aquarium but it closes at 5 so if we get delayed at all it might not be worth going there.
Saturday morning we are going to IKEA before the airport so I'm just looking for one, maybe 2 indoor, (I'm just assuming it's going to be hotter than hell) kid friendly ideas for Friday afternoon/early evening.

We haven't booked the hotel yet, figured we would stay near whatever we decide to do. But I'm being pushed to choose something asap since it's only a few weeks away!
Let me think about it a bit tonight. Do you want to stay in the same area as any activities or closer to DFW? Are you driving down 75/I45? The aquarium and Perot museum would be fun, but the traffic would not be ideal on a Friday afternoon.
Full disclosure, I was born and raised in Houston so anything short of Louisiana feels dry to me.

We will probably stay close to whatever we do Friday evening. I have no clue what route we're taking, that's H's job 😂 I'll ask him though!
Yes, it will likely be extremely hot, but it's a dry(ish) heat.
Where is your hotel? Keep in mind Friday traffic is usually worse and will impact drive times.
oh gosh yes Friday traffic is so terrible. I drive from North Dallas through everything at 430 on Fridays to go home to Austin. I begged off going home this weekend because it is just so anxiety producing to go through the city at that time of day.
sandj82110 - I'm going to preface this with saying that I'm a homebody and much more familiar with the North Dallas area; my recommendations will skew north. Most of the options below are off 121/SRT. I also need to get out more! My go to is usually the local playground, nature museum, or the zoo.
Kids Mania (Allen off 75) - HUGE play area, also has arcade games and food. Cheaper than a few of the other options.
Stonebriar mall (Frisco) - near IKEA and has a play area, Lego store, and Disney store.
PlayStreet Museum - multiple locations
Urban Air (Frisco) - indoor trampoline park has an Under 7 area.
Jungle Joes (Frisco) - we've never been but it looks fun for the littles.
Perot Museum - traffic could be horrendous, this would probably be more of an option if you guys were here earlier Friday
Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History - might be out of the way, depending on where you stay.
Grapevine Mills Mall - Rainforest cafe (cheesy and overpriced) and LegoLand (fun, but expensive)
ETA: G loooves walking around Nebraska Furniture Mart. Probably because of the car buggies, glass elevator, and the Sees Candy Shoppe. Lol.
