The natural history museum in SLC is pretty great. Also-- really just hiking is awesome! I'd suggest checking out Snowbird and other ski resorts which are still great in summer time for hiking and other activities. Little Cottonwood canyon is great. Boneville shoreline. Park City is great obviously andnot too far from SLC. There's a cave that's great too but I forget the name. Antelope Island too. The Great Salt Lake. And for food I'd check out restaurants in Sugar House, the Avenues and downtown SLC. But it's been awhile some I've been there so can't give any specific recs.
