I know we have a separate politics board, but thought I'd put this up here, too.
They need to hear from you. It's super easy. You can just call and say "I urge Senator so-and-so to hold off on a vote on the American Healthcare Act until there is adequate time to assess the impact of the bill in its final form." That's all. They might ask for your zip code or address to confirm you are their constituent. The people that answer the phones are usually friendly.
If you have a Democratic Senator, call and tell them to use every trick in the book to delay a vote. Senator Finestein changed her position in a week to agreeing to withhold consent and filibustering by amendment to delay a vote because of the amount of calls she received.

I left messages for Roy Blunt both through his website and I have called. I really wish I could say that I hoped he would listen to his constituents but I honestly think he just doesn't care. He has some BS on his facebook page about how wonderful this new healthcare bill is.
Just called and left messages for both of mine and also emailed them. I will continue to call/email all week. I don't think it will make a bit of difference (Senators Cassidy and Kennedy) to them, but at least they will have a record of calls/emails in opposition to the bill.

My senator is a democrat, but I was just wondering- do you think calling/emailing etc actually makes a difference?
I find it a bit disheartening to hear about all the public outcry/outreach on certain issues and having senators/reps voting within their party lines anyways.

There's a poster on CEP who is very involved with Medicaid, and yes, callers are making a difference. There are Senators in swing states who worry about re-election who could be swayed.

Cory fucking Gardner needs to add some more phone lines and staffers. Haven't been able to get through for the last hour. Colorado isn't taking this lying down.
I got right through to both offices and talked to staffers. Then I went to my local county Dem women's outreach and told them to start calling again today and this should be a #1 priority every day.

Yes! I mentioned it above, but voicing your support with a Democratic senator helps them to stay the course. I have one pretty liberal Senator, and the other is more centrist, but I believe calling and the scripts from groups like Indivisible have made Feinstein's agenda more oppositional than without that pressure.
As for my useless rep - I'm just glad to be voicing my opinion and knowing he is facing more pressure, negative feedback, and his staffers' time is consumed with calls from the opposition. He won't change his vote. But I feel somewhat satiated knowing he can't even go out to public events anymore without facing resistance. It makes the petty side in me happy.

Definitely still call Democrats, but I would manage your expectations about what Dems can do to delay. There is virtually no way they're going to be able to stretch the amendments out the way Indivisible is claiming. It's literally not possible with Senate procedure (and yes before anyone asks we and others have taken this up with them directly...) It isn't helpful to have people call and demand they filibuster through amendment until after recess or whatever people want them to do - it won't happen and it's not possible. They can do and are doing a lot of other things (including staying quiet and behind the scenes when it is helpful for them to do so.) I know it's a downer but we are trying to move moderates and conservatives here not put on a feel-good liberal party.
Calls to every single Senator help. If yours is very conservative use the script above about delaying until there is time to fully assess the bill. Or don't give a reason. Some may vote against because it isn't terrible enough to appease them... it doesn't matter why as long as there are 3 Republican nos. For Senators in the target states (AK, AZ, CO, ME, NV, OH, PA, TN, WV) emphasize Medicaid - the caps and cuts and the end of the Medicaid expansion are the worst coverage losses and the worst deal for state budgets. It's a wedge issue right now.

Sadly the faxes go straight to the trash per our most recent reports. Those jerks love to dodge.
ETA: calls are great everyone is still tallying calls as far as we can tell.
It's very helpful! There are so many "resources" out there now it's good to have some feedback
I'm glad so many people are paying attention and getting out there! This is the very last push and while things could change we are still expecting a vote this week.
