I'm in the middle of And Still We Rise about gifted inner city students. It's part of a group book study that will help meet the 30 hours of gifted training we have to get this year. I really like it so far. My principal also assigned Above the Line by Urban Meyer. Waiting till the last minute to tackle that one *-)
I started reading Lost At School during the school year and would like to finish this summer. Otherwise, I don't have anything school related on my reading list.
I'm reading Culturally Responsive Teaching (Zaretta Hammond) and Fostering Resilient Learners plus a huge other stack but those are the first 2 on my list
I'm thinking of "The Digital Principal" by Anna Burke and Jeanette Hughes. I'm struggling with finding the technology balance in my building.
I also read some leadership blogs, and have some curriculum updates to read.
(I still find it odd that principals assign reading to their staff. That's unheard of here)
My principal has only assigned the Urban Meyer book because it's written by, well, Urban Meyer. It has nothing to do with improving our building or our teaching; it's written by a football coach. I'm sure there are tenets that could be applied but those are secondary at best.
