DD has a quad strain (still) so tomorrow she goes to my ortho. She's skipping tennis every day, but that means I have to pick her up after her theater camp instead of her riding the bus. Tonight she has to go to her game because she invited a new player that doesn't know anyone, and I will have to duck out of VBS to take her. Other DD has an extraction appointment - luckily her Dad is taking her because it's at the same time as the orthopedist.
I am just super stressed with trying to get everyone everywhere and work full time!! I told DH he has to be in town the first week of August or I will lose my mind. One week home over the summer to look forward to not doing all the everything.
So much this. All we have regularly is gymnastics 1 night/week and I still can't hack it. I feel like such a parenting fail.
Scarlet fever is a result of untreated strep. Your kid might get strep from being exposed to it, but wouldn't get scarlet fever unless the strep goes untreated. I can totally see how a parent could miss strep, especially in summer, and would only go to the doctor when the rash appeared. BTW, my kids also were exposed to strep at camp this week. We leave for vacation tomorrow. Really hoping they both avoid getting sick.
My kid has strep now. No fever, felt fine, just kept saying her ear hurt. She was sniffing and had been swimming a lot, so I thought she either had an ear infection or swimmer's ear. Took her to the dr, ears were completely clear, but the dr said she's seen a ton of strep lately, so ran the test. I had no idea.
DD has also had raging ear infections that were found at regular check ups, and she says she feels fine and isn't in any pain. Redheads have a different level of pain tolerance.

You have a red head, too?! DS1 has bright red hair. The only time he's been diagnosed with an ear infection was when I noticed drainage from a burst ear drum, and even then he was only moderately fussy. It makes me wonder if we actually got lucky and largely avoided ear infections or if he had a bunch that went undiagnosed because he didn't complain.
DS is teething. It looks like he's decided to push 6 of the top teeth out and at least two molars at the same time. And it's... taking... forever.
DD did not teeth like this. She'd be fussy, we couldn't figure out why, and the next thing we knew, teeth were there, and it would explain the fussiness.

+1
Ds decided to play football this year. I am glad he is going to be active and involved, but inside, I was panicking. In July, they practice every day from 7-9 AM. On the days Dh works, it's 12 hour shifts. Plus, DDs volleyball season and football are both fall sports. I have no idea how we will pull it off. We always do, with a few minor breakdowns from me.

I got another random one. We found a white hair on DD. DS has had a few white hairs and I've panicked over them (since I panic over everything), but now that DD has one too, I feel better. I think it's genetics. DH has a lot of white hair. I asked MIL if she remembers DH having white hairs when he was a child and she doesn't remember. I asked my mom about mine and she rolled her eyes at me.

Why is white hairs a reason to panic?
I thought it's not common for children to have white hairs, especially if their natural colour is very dark. But mostly it's because DS has had a lot of unexplained health issues (allergies, seizures, thyroid problems, growth failure etc.) and for about 1.5 years, every blood test we ran came back abnormal one way or another. Nothing was ever found, but then in the back of my mind, I always think that something else may be wrong. It's exhausting being me. LOL
sdlaura, mine does. She's like a little furnace. She's hot in the winter, and hotter in the summer. Always with rosy cheeks. DH is the same way, so I didn't attribute it to her being a redhead.
I'm an auburn red-head naturally, and I'm cold All. The. Time.
mae0111 and saraml13 I also have a redhead . Do your redheads also get hot easier than other kids?
Hard to tell. He's not 3 yet and doesn't tend to vocalize much temperature preference. I have fair skin and have always flushed very easily, and both boys are the same. DS1 pretty much refuses to admit when he's cold because he's too caught up in whatever he's doing and doesn't want to stop to go inside or put on a jacket.

+1 to a kid with strep.
We're on vacation, so of course DS2 had to get sick (it's not vacation without a trip to urgent care!) Color me surprised when he tested positive for strep. I thought he had croup. If it hadn't been for the barky cough I would not have taken him in.
We switched house cleaners because the old one wasn't doing a great job cleaning the house.
But the new ones have shitty availability. The old one could always work around our schedule or switch days. These ones not so much. Also, they only want cash and $70 isn't a denomination I can get from the ATM.
So at drop off this morning they told me DS showed his privates to another boy. And said it happened once before last week and they talked to me. 1) this little boy has done this twice (once in May and once in June) and I instructed DS to get away and tell the teacher 2) they never told me DS had done this.
This other kid has some issues, and is part of the reason we were moving to public school - the teachers don't seem able to control him, which is an indicator to me that the teachers aren't ideal (the two leads left this year both unexpectedly).
Apparently the kid's Dad is very angry. It was news to the school that the other kid started this, and I made it very clear to the school that there are other issues there - violence, obsession with gun play, discussion of PG13 movies, meanness, encouragement to break the rules, etc. The dynamic with the boys changed when he arrived and two other families left.
I'll discuss with DS. But I'm pretty livid that they were just taking these somewhat crazy people's word for things (it's pretty obvious to me and others that there's something off with them and this is their 5th school in two years).
Vent/annoyance: if you are a check in receptionist/nurse/doctor/etc, you either have access to her insurance card or her medical records. Please don't keep referencing her as a male. SHE is a FEMALE. Her pink hair and mermaid shirt are hints, the card and records are definitive.
