It's been a while so I thought I'd say hello again. Formerly FMFwife. It's been a hectic 2 years or so. Haven't been on here much because of it. DH retired, had a pretty bad motorcycle accident this year, I got attached to the Comfort so I'm TAD a lot, and I even got to go to sea even if it was only for a total of 3 weeks of training. Big changes at my primary command as well as being crazy short staffed. But after 3 years here I'm finally up to choose orders in September which is a relief. It's been difficult to keep my motivation lately. There are a lot of morale issues in our department. Our civilian contractors are at odds with our GS supervisor and since they're the majority it's all we hear about. I don't care if they send me to the stumps. I need away from the drama. Anyone else have anything exciting going on?
MH got out almost a year ago and he's a commercial pilot now. We moved home to NY and we're about to close on our forever house. I'm so excited to get settled in our home so I can build my business up again. I miss working.
We've officially passed the three-years-until-H-gets-out-of-the-Army point. H's been in since he was seventeen, we just celebrated our fourteenth anniversary, and both of us are so very ready to transition to civilian life.
Hello! Nothing exciting going on, mostly everything is up in the air and I'm a planner kind of person. H is going to Korea next year and we decided to not do command sponsor since he'd have to re-up. H wants to promote while in Korea so he can get preference for the follow-on, trying for Germany but if not we'd love to go back home to WA.
Then again, H is still trying to decide if he wants to stay Army or switch to Navy...or get out and do private contracting instead. So not going to Korea is so I can finish my degree that way I have some comfort in finding a job wherever we end up. DD will be about pre-school age when H is done with Korea and I'd be done with my degree so perfect timing to start working again.
Hello! We are both still active duty AF and stationed in Germany. Husband has a very demanding job but that is balanced by my busy-but-autonomous job. I just had a baby 5 days ago and started maternity leave. I am absolutely loving it and it makes me wonder how I'd do as a SAHM. If it is always this fun I would be down for that.
Heyyyy. I'm still living the DoD employee life. I can't believe I've been divorced FIVE YEARS. I'm at a remote now and living in base housing and paying an absurd amount of rent. I know people hate hit but I kinda love moving around as much as I do! I hope you get orders to somewhere good!
Hi! I used to be a poster over on S&B, but I never really popped in here(I assumed it was all military spouses; no mil members). I am AGR for the National Guard. Anyway, I'm applying for a job that could potentially take me to Germany. I'm super excited at the prospect, but I'm trying not to get my hopes too high. My DH is pure civilian. We've been together since college. 2 kids complete our family.
Hey, still living the Guard life. Tried to go AD when I got divorced but got denied because the state wants to maintain numbers. :/
I did get a platoon though! We have twice the appropriate number of LTs so this is a huge deal.
. I'm guard as well! Have you looked on GKO for AGR or title 10 positions? Might be an option since your state won't release you to AD. Also, if you are willing to do ADOS, there are lots of positions open right now on Tour of Duty (access through GKO).

WRT Title X, I don't live in my duty state, so that makes it hard, and I'm not interested at all in living in that state again. I've checked out some ADOS opportunities and am open to them.
