I overhauled my skin care and makeup due to some health issues so I decided to start with the DE line since it doesn't contain ingredients I need to avoid. I have breakout prone and dry skin. Even though I have used some of these products before I still have some questions I was hoping to get answered!
1)DE says their bars eliminate the need for double cleansing but I don't really believe that. If you double cleanse what do you use?
2)Can I really mix all of the serums, oil & sunscreen together? From my AB reading I thought it was best to do these things in layers...
3)Should I add an essence? I'm kind of unclear as to what an essence does and if I should add one. The sample I got of Tatcha The Essence was great but $95 is more than I'd like to spend.
morning: jujubar 1 pump c firma + 1 pump b hydra eye cream marula oil mixed into umbra sunscreen bare minerals complexion rescue If I put makeup on I set it with rosewater.
evening: peekee bar eye cream 1 pump tlc framboos + 1 pump b hydra + marula oil
1. I use the Peekee bar at night but I still double cleanse. Right now, I'm using Skin Food Black Sugar oil cleaner. I've used Josie Maran argan cleanser in the past. When I went to the Sephora Rouge fall preview event, they had a new DE cleanser out, which I think may have been an oil cleanser. I don't think you can buy it in stores until the fall.
2. I don't mix. Do they really say you can do that?
3. I started using Belif Chamomile essence. I don't know if it does anything other than add a bit of hydration to my skin. Since you are using the B-hydra gel, you may not need an essence but I'm not really very good at figuring this stuff out.
4. I don't use toner. My understanding is that it's main purpose is to restore your skin's ph balance after cleaning, but if you are using the right kind of soap. then you don't need it. So I don't use it.
2) Maybe I'm misinterpreting this "Since our products are formulated without silicones, all rules about skincare layering go right out the window: just mix and go." I also read an article about the founder mixing everything together and applying it.
3) Do you think I should apply the b hydra before the acid serums?
4) that's what I thought toners do and since I have been using a PH balanced face wash for awhile I never bought toner.
I don't exclusively use DE, but I double cleanse. I use Heimish All Clean Balm (found on Amazon). Banila Co Clean it Zero Purity is similar.
I would use C-Firma first then B-Hydra. I also personally wouldn't mix anything with the sunscreen.
ETA: I'm using a toner in the evening right now because it came as part of a set but I don't feel an overwhelming need to purchase one when it runs out.
