I tend to use primarily mineral foundation, Jane Iredale, and would like to start using a setting spray. I'd like something to help my make-up stay on, but know nothing about setting sprays. What do you recommend and why?

Here's my theory: it all comes down to the sprayer on the bottle.
My favorite setting spray is Urban Decay's All Nighter. I also really like Elf' setting spray and NYX's stay matte setting spray. Except I hated how the last two applied. Then I put them in UD's bottle and wahla they were awesome and I personally can't tell a difference between these three.

I've had 4 bottles of the elf setting spray. 3 worked beautifully and had a nice mist. The 4th was more of a stream and splotchy. I put it in an older (mostly empty) bottle I had and all was well. Just saying it may be a fluke in a few bottles because not all are bad.
ETA: I've never used UD's so I can't compare the spray to it

I agree. I have a small travel size bottle of UD All Nighter that I refill with the Elf. I don't notice a difference... enough to justify the price, at least. The UD bottle/sprayer is a super fine mist, where the Elf is just a normal spray... if that makes sense.
I did just pick up a travel size of MAC prep and prime with my 20% at Ulta. I haven't tried it yet.

I totally agree about the sprayer! The travel-size UD ones always have the good ones; it's misty and covers my face so I only have to spray a few times. It's really a hit or miss when it comes to the full-size ones.
ETA: Oh yes, recs. I tried all UD, Makeup Forever, MAC, L'Oreal, NYX, Model in a Bottle and Elf. My favourites are UD All Nighter and L'Oreal Infallible and Model in a Bottle.
I prefer UD All Nighter, however I was just bitching about my current bottle. The tube is cut too short, so I have to swap pump lids so that I can get to the last inch of spray.
