What is the last book you read that you ignored you family/kids/chores, etc because you could not put it down? Looking for inspiration before I go to the library/no-kids vacation.
Enjoy your vacation! I'm currently reading Dollhouse. I chose it after someone rated it low because it was too chic lit. I think it would be a great vacation read!
Tell The Wolves I'm Home The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley The new Nora Roberts was really good, though I don't think it'd be easy to check out from the library for a while.
Enjoy your vacation! I'll be on vacation all next week so I'm busy getting my kindle stocked too. I'm rereading the Harry Potter series but I'm also going to try out the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy.
The last book I loved was The Hate U Give, which is really not a vacation book (though I do recommend it for an audiobook). The best 'light' book that would be more of a vacation read in my mind, that I have read somewhat recently, was "Dream a Little Dream" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. It's a romance story but the woman was previously married and has a kid and there's some back story there, along with a bit of back story for the leading man too, so it's not all fluff.

The last book I read that I totally neglected life was Seige and Storm (Shadow and Bone #2). My husband kept coming in the bedroom like, is that all you are going to do today?!?
Honorable mentions to The Hate U Give and Born a Crime.
But I don't think any of these would be considered vacation reads to most people.
Seabiscuit was like that (it is old, sorry I rarely read). Defending Jacob is really good.
If you want a really quick read I'd get shadow divers. It is a really compelling story but written at about a 4th grade level. The write style bothered me but the story was so good I finished it pretty quickly.
I loved Homegoing (see this month's book club thread).
Kate Morton's The Secret Keeper was an interesting and engaging read.
I recommend Robert Galbraith's (pseudonym for JK Rowling) Cormoran Strike series here often; the audiobook versions are especially good. I've listened to each a couple of times now.
I recently went through basically everything Susanna Kearsley has published. So yeah, I recommend her.
sparrowsong So in your opinion, should I read Splendour Falls or The Winter Sea next? I have all of her books, but have only read (and absolutely loved!!!) The Rose Garden and Mariana.

I just finished Big Little Lies, that one's good, but heavy topics.
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover is really good - but again heavy topics
On a lighter scale "Since You've Been Gone" is good, pretty light YA. "Younger" by Pamela Redmond Stratan is good, it's quick and relatively close to the plot of the show. The Martian is good, esp if you liked the movie And finally, The Nanny Diaries is cute, pretty fluffy.
