So I'm leaving work in about an hour and heading to my cousin's house to take a pregnancy test. I was feeling fairly confident, you know, since I know already! I went to the bathroom and I'm spotting! I'm crampy, too, and I have been all afternoon. Somebody tell me that's normal???
Update -
I'm still spotting and cramping, and I called the doctor yesterday, who said that 1 in 3 women spot during early pregnancy, and that she secretly gets a little excited when someone tells her they're spotting (she didn't know I had taken a test at that point). I went to my cousin's, and he said the same thing, that basically it's probably nothing to worry about.
I took the test at their house and left it in the bathroom on the counter when I came out. A few minutes passed, and she couldn't wait anymore and went in to look. I stayed in the kitchen. I heard her say that there was a line and so I went in with them and looked and acted surprised. My cousin refuses to get excited until the blood test, but his wife I could tell was a little excited. We talked for a little bit, I cried some because of my nerves and hormones and everything, and then my cousin started getting teary eyed! Mr. No Emotion. Suddenly this is all becoming very real, and it's exciting and scary and nerve wracking!
I had spotting with my first at around 6 weeks. Everything was fine and the benefit was that I was about to get an early ultrasound I would not have otherwise had. Try not to worry, but definitely let the doctors know too.
Is your spotting brown or bright red? Brown is totally normal FWIW.
Kind of in the middle. Not brown and not bright red.
IME chemical pregnancies are more like your period. Praying its nothing like that and typical scary-but-nothing spotting. I bled like crazy with my first and hes 19 months!

How many embryos were transferred? I had a ton of bleeding through 12 weeks during my surrogate pregnancy. I did carry twins so the multiples + IVF it was considered "normal" doesn't mean it's not anxiety inducing. Are you on progesterone shots?

birdmom, at the beginning of this pregnancy and after seeing the HB, I had such bad cramping that we went to the ER because I was in that much pain. While there, I started heavy red bleeding and they couldn't find the HB. He's currently kicking right now . It's scary, but it can happen and not mean the worst.
I also had another couple of spotting episodes during first tri that were caused by different things.

I bled bright red clots my entire pregnancy with Myles. One morning I got up and went to the bathroom leaving a trail of blood on the way. I went directly to my MFM office. They found a fibroid.

I had spotting and what felt like period cramping for the first like 3-4 weeks of my pregnancy. It really messes with you! I am almost 21 weeks now. Crossing everything for you!
I'm 9 weeks right now and I had spotting and brown bleeding from 5-6.5 weeks. It was a clot that has now resolved. Totally harmless. Fingers crossed yours is nothing, too. As others said, many women have spotting.
Deep breathes and prayers. I had bright red bleeding for 3 weeks with my twins and cramping throughout and both babies are here and healthy. I know how scary it is.
