Best product to prevent/reduce scarring?

Once Daniel's cut is healed I want to make sure we prevent the scarring as much as possible. What's the best product to use? I feel like TrudyCampbell might have a good recommendation here but I'll take suggestions from everyone!

I know thick coat of sunscreen is important this year. Also mederma but I've heard conflicting reports if it helps

I second lots of sunscreen and medermwe forgot sunscreen on m and now then scar is permanent

E just gashed through his lip/chin a few weeks ago, and the ER doctors and his pediatrician both said spf chapstick and sunscreen would be the most effective right now at preventing scarring.

I put a layer of regular sunscreen on his whole face and then an extra smear over the spot with babyganics face stick that I reapply more frequently.
