DH's annual work party is coming up. This year's theme? Masquerade. Black Tie. (Can I just say, thank the stars for this theme! Prior themes have included stuff like "ranch chic" and "Las Vegas casual" which all left me wondering... WTAF does that mean?)
About me: 5'4, 130, size 2 usually. I have a small upper body, no boobs, and a larger lower body.
DNW black or strapless. There is a 0% chance I will be overdressed, regardless of what I wear. And I've been stress eating, which has all been packing onto the gut, so something relatively forgiving would be great.
So far, I'm waffling between these dresses. Fugly? Go for it? Keep shopping? Another suggestion?
2chatter, for the last Black Tie, I did a short Badgley Mishka. I love that dress, but won't wear it (even the long version) again, since everyone wears it. I also wore the same one, different color for his Casino Royale party.
For the Gatsby party, I bought a cheapie off Amazon.
twinmomma, we have one at home with a stick, one with elastic. I'm trying to remember the colors of the one with the stick though... I think it's green or some other weirdish color.

I love the Sketching gown and have had it on my RTR wishlist for a long time, but don't think this is the right party for it.
I like the ML that twinmomma posted. Be careful though - I find her waist measurements very unforgiving. (I'm a rectangle, so anything cut for an hourglass is tough for me to wear.) I wore a similar gown last fall and loved it. Fun but formal, and a stiff enough fabric that it didn't cling to any trouble spots. Plus with the straps you can wear a regular bra.
I'll be an odd one out and say I love the sketching dress. The back is gorgeous. I, too, take fashion advice from my 4 yo and get a lot of compliments on his choices!
I like all three and think the mask and accessories will make any of them perfect. I lean towards brighter colors so I like the blue but I think the color of the charleston is right on for the theme. The sketching is very interesting too but I feel like you make be overwhelmed by the pattern.
