One of our favorite daycare teachers graduated in December and starts a new full time teaching job at a local elementary school in a couple of weeks. We want to get her a gift - any suggestions for things she'll need for her classroom (2nd grade) that she'll likely have to buy herself? I am going to get a Target gift card (I assume that'll be handy?), but wanted to put some other stuff with it. I was thinking Kleenex, dry erase markers, post-its, colored pens for grading? Not sure if those would be useful or if anyone had other suggestions.

Those are great! A little kitchen timer can be useful. Hand sanitizer, a cute hand held pointer could be fun. You could also consider an Amazon or visa gift card, so that she can use it towards bulletin board sets, because those suckers can get expensive.
I like Mr. Sketch markers, colorful Sharpies, and Flair pens personally I have an education supply store nearby and loved getting gift cards for there.
Stuff I bought for myself but would have liked as a gift- cute monogrammed lunch bag, Yeti tumbler (we have a water dispenser in the lounge and I like filling my Yeti in the morning. It stays cold for hours!) and a pretty lanyard for my whistle/keys.
I give TeachersPayTeachers gift cards to my son's teachers.
Pens and markers in fun colors (flair, sharpie, Mr. Sketch, dry erase), post it note brand chart paper, a good pair of scissors and a stapler in a fun color, maybe a cute sign for her door.
What about a personalized stamp? Property of Ms.___ there are some cute ones on etsy, someone suggested this for my cousin who is a new speech path amd it reminded me how much i disliked writing my name in books over and over
