The worst thing happened this morning.

I was dog sitting a puppy while her owner is gone for a work trip. 4:00 am she started crying to go outside, so I brought her into the backyard like usual, but for some reason her leash wasn't by the door, it was the middle of the night and I was tired, so it slipped my mind to put it on her. She started wondering around the side of the house and wouldn't come when I called her. I kind of chased after her and she took off into the street.

If you haven't guessed where this is going yet, she got hit by a car. She was tiny and the truck was very big, and she pretty much died instantly. I wrapped her up in a sheet and took her to the e-vet, but there was obviously nothing they could do.

I am sick over this. I cannot stop crying. This is all my fault.
