One of my H's uncle's died a few days ago. The funeral is mid day Monday. Is it expected that everyone takes off work, or is this a way to reduce attendance? I've only been to weekend funerals so I don't know if my H is expected to take off work to go or not.
awick14 hopefully the baby doesn't get it. Glad you still got you time. Crazy what a treat Costco alone can be. Lol.

I think it will vary depending on how close they were. If a relative I was super close to passed away (or other family needed me there for support) and I could take the time off then I wouldn't hesitate. But if it's not something your DH feels he needs to attend or work is a PITA right now then I can see not attending. Just depends on the circumstances and individual preference. Super helpful, right?
I also agree...both grocery shopping and Costco solo are huge treats these days. I did both just this week...I usually take both boys with me during the week but haven't gathered the courage to do Costco with a newly potty trained toddler. Much easier to go alone whenever DH is home from work and the boys are in bed!

amaranth I also think it depends. Does he get bereavement leave? We get 30 hours total, H gets 3 days (each time, not total, I'm not sure how "close" of a relative it needs to be but I don't think they need to be close). I've only ever taken it for GMIL's funeral last year and took a day and a half. Anyways, in my experience, funerals have been on any day of the week. I'm not sure if there's a cost difference or that's the availability the churches and funeral homes have?
amaranth- most funerals I have been to are during the week. It is expected that a lot of people can't get work off to go. Most funerals are attended by immediate family and then whom ever can get the time off.
And DD is sick as well. She has had a stuffy nose for a few days but we were hoping it was just the smoke in the air bothering her. And yesterday she had a fever and I was hoping it was from teething. Well today she has just slept off and on all day, barely eating, and has had a fever that breaks with Tylenol but comes back once it wears off. I think she's dehydrated. And if she wakes up dry from this nap I will be calling the doctor.
