Evening in San Francisco?

If you had a Friday evening to spend by yourself (next Friday evening, to be exact) in San Francisco, what would you do?

Good question. I've done the Alcatraz Night Tour, explored the Ferry Building, wandered the Haight, walked Golden Gate, wandered/eaten in Chinatown.

It's super cheesey, but I love just going down to Pier 39 and sitting and watching the sea lions. I know this is probably not everyone's choice. I vote for Union Square shopping and dining. I really like Colibri if you like Mexican food.

Ditto Gary Danko. Unless you want something more casual and then I'd wander North Beach (right next to Chinatown) and get some pizza, gelato etc.

Ditto wandering in North Beach and getting some delicious Italian food. I also second Colibri for some wonderful Mexican.

I would probably wander in North Beach, get some dinner there, then browse at City Lights Bookstore for awhile. I'd also probably hop on a cable car if I could catch one and just ride around town. Cheesy, maybe, but I love riding on the cable cars, even if I don't have a specific place to go.

We just got back from SF last week. The Powell-Hyde cable car line goes right by Lombard Street (crookedest street), which was fun to check out.

Also, we didn't get to go, but Fridays from 5-10pm there is a food truck festival at Fort Mason Center: offthegridsf.com/
