Hopefully people are still interested in continuing with the monthly book club reads! If so, please vote in the poll for which books (you can select up to 3!) you are interested in reading. The top three will be our book club selections for the months of August, September, and October. The books I picked in the poll were ones taken from the Goodreads Most Popular Bookclub Books this Week and this Month lists. I tried to pick a wide variety of genres to put in the poll.
Voting will end this Friday at 5pm. Feel free to change your votes repeatedly up until then
Yes, thanks Casey! Well I think Casey when I see your posts here, but know you as something else on goodreads!
Casey is actually the name of my cat, don't ask me why I picked that as part of my screenname because I don't know LOL. The Goodreads name is the right one but feel free to call me whatever haha!
I'm glad I remembered to check the board; I was just thinking about this today on my way home from work. I'm definitely interested in continuing the club. ufcasey, thanks for continuing to coordinate it!

Ha! I never made the connection! I've always called you your Goodreads name in my head.
It looks like there are 3 pretty clear winners. It's there an order selected?
I checked my library and there is a super long hold lost for Into the Water (meaning I'll probably just buy a copy), but not as bad for The Hate U Give and Caraval. I'm may sound counterintuitive but in that case I'd rather start with Into the Water to give a chance for the holds to come up on the others.
Of course all libraries are different; has anyone else checked theirs?
I saw the same thing aurora . My library has the most holds for Into the Water, followed by The Hate U Give, followed by Caraval. Caraval I could get by the last Wednesday of August, but I am not sure if that would be the case for everyone else or not. I would need until the end of October to have a chance to borrow Into the Water, but even then it might not happen based on the number of holds. So to your point I guess let's see if anyone else chimes in about their library availability. But for now try to put them all on hold Also, another thing to maybe keep in mind is that this month's book pick is a mystery/thriller and Into the Water is supposed to be one too.
Caraval can be delivered to me right away (likely this week), Hate U Give has 34 holds on it And Into The Water has 200something. I've put them all on hold.
I already own Into The Water and The Hate U Give, and Caraval only has about a month wait. I too think it's best to switch up genres, but I'm fine with whatever.
Caraval and The Hate U Give are both available immediately at my library. Into the Water has 126 holds on 83 copies so it would probably be a few months on that one.
My library only allows 5 holds at a time (due to budget cuts) which makes it really hard to borrow books with substantial waitlists if you're an avid reader.

I've read The Hate U Give so for me, the sooner the discussion on that one the better. I've had Caraval on hold and I'm currently #1 on the wait list. The wait list for Into the Water is crazy long.
So my preferred order would be The Hate U Give Caraval Into the Water

I haven't finished my coffee so forgive me if this is obvious, but how does a hold limit help the budget?
Ditto rainbowchip on the order -- I've read The Hate U Give already, Caraval is available immediately and Into the Water is a crazy long wait list. I really hated The Girl on the Train, though, so I don't know if I'll read that one anyway.
Ok executive decision time - August: Caraval (shortest wait for most people) September: The Hate U Give (to account for longer wait times, but still kind of soon for those of us who have already read it) October: A Gentleman in Moscow (won 4th place in the vote) November: Into the Water (hopefully by then the wait list holds will be available for most people) December: no freaking clue LOL

I think it has something to do with not having to move as many books between libraries. I don't really know though. It seems like it would be better to encourage people to continue to use the library.
