Ok, I feel like I would hurt myself with that TRX thing! Lol.
It looks complicated but it's really actually quite simple. It's as tough or easy as you make it and you can slowly work harder and harder. There are a lot of Youtube videos for beginners and beyond.

I love kettle bell exercise. I've found they've changed the shape of my body faster. And i sweat a lot with it so it feels like cardio without the running.
I looked at the trx stuff and man, I think I'd get tangled up real quick, lol. Guess I'm not in as good shape as I thought ;-)

Just one item would be a set of 3, 5 & 8 lb dumbbells. The second item would be maybe the 21 day fix dvds or another program that combined cardio and weights.
That's what works for me anyway, I prefer to work out at home.
I like dumbbells. If you're considering adjustable dumbbells, see if you can hold them first. We have a set and I dislike how bulky they are, so I've stuck to regular dumbbells.
If y'all use kettlebells--what exercise/program do you do with them? I have been sporadic about weight training in the past, but I am coming to terms with the fact that I will not be a regular gymgoer in the near future (between my commute and H's long hours, childcare is a challenge).

Also interested in the TRX system!
I think Fitness Blender is awesome! You can buy cheap workout programs (like $8) or just pick random videos from their YouTube station, which is what I do almost every day. I do a lot of their HIIT and free weight workouts. They have videos for almost every form of exercise you could do at home (Pilates, kettlebell, HIIT, free weights, yoga, etc).

What does it take to set up? One I looked at has a door hook, is that really all it needs or does it need to be screwed into a wall?
I've been slacking off for a long time and I wonder if something simple like that in my home office would work.

I feel like you said dumbbells so many times this has to be a joke...

I use it outside a lot so I just sling it over a tree branch or something like that. At home, I have a power rack so I use that, but other people I know tend to just use the door hook. You don't need to screw anything into any walls.

Nope, I apparently just love typing out dumbbells.
Can anyone tell me more about kettle bells and how they are better than regular weights? I have only ever used them in boot camp to do kettle bell swings.
Also, thanks to everyone in this thread that mentioned trx - I'm intrigued and off to check it out further.
