We're on our last night of vacation staying in a hotel about 3 hours from home. It's been a great vacation. I feel like I reconnected with DH, which has been needed for the last couple of years. I just hope it stays this way when we get home.
FFFC: we ended up at a casino in Reno for 2 nights with DS. But it was awesome. There were so many food options, a great pool and an arcade that he could enjoy. DH and I took turns gambling while the other one entertained with DS. I ended the trip even money, so I consider that a win.
I've eaten so much good food that I'm afraid to step on the scale when I get home. 186momx, I think I ended my food splurge with a stop in your neck of the woods at Voodoo donuts. So good and no line like the original location.

rere, that makes me sad for your kids, especially your DD. IMO, kids should always have fun birthdays, or at least not have to do chores on their birthdays. They have a whole adulthood for that. You'll have to post an update on a Thursday to let us know how your mom reacts when you tell her why the kids aren't coming to visit again. (And if it were me, I'd probably have a pretty frank conversation with my brother about mowing the lawn.)

rere I was your DD growing up. My cousins always got special treatment because they lived 4 hours away. My brother was also the only boy, so I was chopped liver compared to the other 3 grandkids despite being the first. There was one time specifically that they got to go on a special trip to Build-A-Bear that I wasn't even invited to go. This was 2001 when Build-A-Bear was still fairly new, exciting and expensive.
Also, people don't HAVE to work on their birthday. PTO can be used if they so choose. The city employee's where we live actually get a free vacation day to use the week of their birthday. So, your mom is incorrect.
supertrooper1, Voodoo donuts are good but I very rarely venture down there to get them. I have heard that they freeze really well so you can stock up if you want. Actually the last time we went to Voodoo Donuts was when we had OOT company who wanted to go see the Saturday Market.
rere that is horrible and you will have to update us...
FFFC I really miss DD having daycare on Friday and my day of alone time to do all the errands, laundry, and cleaning alone. This summer having her with me is driving me bananas.
Oh, weekend was okay if you call not being able to sit, stand or walk without excruciating back pain. The only comfy spot was laying down.

I'll have to remember that they freeze well, thanks. We ended up spending another night from home, so they probably wouldn't have been in good shape, but I'll do that next time.
