I've held off on buying something for a while, but am ready to pull the trigger. I have to carry meds, water to mix meds, and EpiPens for my son, so I can never just grab my wallet when I want to go light. A few days ago we were at a large indoor play place that had no lockers. I really needed my hands free so I could play with DS, and even my cross body bag was annoying when I was climbing. Situations like this keep coming up. Riding scooters at the park, a trip into NYC, helping him with the children's ropes course, etc.
I keep going back to the LLL website and drooling over the Run All Day backpack. It's $118 and I'm not sure if it's worth the money. I want something sleek, black, and not too large. Something that isn't bulky or too sporty like the North Face backpack I use when we travel/fly.
Can anyone recommend something similar in size and shape to this?
I have this one and I think it's a great size. I can fit a lot of stuff in there but it doesn't get bulky. It's $100 but there's a 20% off code available and ebates is usually decent on eBags.

For something cheap, I have two of these & use them for short hikes or anytime I need to be hands-free but not carry a ton of stuff. They're pretty small but can fit my 16oz water bottle, snacks, keys, wallet, phones, bugspray, etc.
Edit: Ebags sucks, all links seem to be broken. Just search for Dakine Cosmo Backpack, it's there.
I have a 1 strap backpack from amazon that I take with us to the amusement park. It doesn't move and has enough room for wallet, water, snack, and a few other things like sunscreen stick and E's sunglasses if she wants them.

I haven't tried this, but recently got a JJB BFF and love it. Machine washable, and treated so that you can wipe spills right off. The BRB is bigger (and like twice the price), but I think this might be more the size you're after.
I use the Eddie Bauer 10L Stowaway for the similar purpose of wanting hands free and a place to put DS's Epipen, diapers, and water. I use their 20L Stowaway for longer outings.
I also have the Madewell Simple Crossbody which is big enough for his epipen, small wallet, phone, and keys that I toss in whatever bag I'm using for the day. Depending on what we are doing sometimes I just want the small purse on me if there I'd someplace else I can set the bigger bag nearby.
IDK what's wrong with it. I grabbed it again and it is exactly the same. It did work when I copied and pasted it, if you want to try that. Sorry!
I don't know why it happens but I've noticed it happens a lot that a space gets added to the end of the url, invalidating it. I think this link will work (It worked for me.)
I see TR, already posted it, but the Patagonia Atom sling is really nice. My friend has one and uses it all the time It hold a lot and I think the cross body design is really comfortable.
