T is ready and excited but nervous. He went to the same daycare from 4 months old until last month so this is going to be a huge change. Plus he won't know anyone from preschool because he was near my school but now he will be going to the school down the road from our house. He makes friends easily so I am not too worried but it will still be a huge adjustment.
He is enrolled in the on-site before and after school program. The start/end times are the same as my school and I am 30 minutes away. He will probably be there 7:30-4:30 most days because of that.
He went for a screening back in April. Orientation isn't until the Friday before school starts and I am heartbroken I can't take him. My school is on the same regional calendar so I have to be back for mandatory workshops and professional development that day. Ugh. H is taking off from work to go with him, but it sucks that I can't go. Being home to take him to school on the first day is also going to be a logistical challenge because it is my first day too. There are many perks to being a teacher but it sometimes makes things like this a huge challenge.
The Foozzler the whole teacher thing totally sucks. I have to miss part of my inservice day to take her to assessment. Meet the teacher is at 1 on the first half day, so she has to come to school with me on my first half day, then I have to take her over once my kids all leave. I'm lucky that she's in school down the road from our school (H works there too) so I can drop her off, go to work, and she can ride a bus to my school and hang out for the last 30 minutes of the day with one of us. H and I are going to have to trade off missing a lot of stuff.
I think Cub Scouts is 1st grade/7 years old. We're not eligible yet. At least, that's the deal around here.
My son just finished K, and some scout packs are starting a Lion Scout program for kindergarten boys. My son did it and loved it!!! Great introduction to scouting ;-) he says he wants to go all the way to Eagle Scout now lol
What?? I will need to look into this again. It wasn't around last year when I looked into it.

DD starts August 8th. She is not excited at all about K. All of the K teachers at her school are great, but one has a reputation for being more strict and my niece had her last year so DD is worried about getting her. I've been talking up how great K is and how nice all of the teachers are just in case she gets her.
I looked into it, and the program hasn't made it to Atlanta yet. I got a very nice email back from the head of the BSA here and they said they'd love to have us, next summer when he's a rising 1st grader. Drat.

W starts August 16th and after the 1st half day, goes 8-3:20. He is at the same school he's been in since 18 months and knows all of the teachers so there are no transition issues. We won't have his specific classroom assignment until about a week before. I'm a little nervous this year because there is one teacher who is very good, but I don't think W will respond well to her. I did not make a specific request for a teacher, but instead requested that W be placed in a classroom with the best overall fit. They did a phenomenal job with placement last year so I'm just going to have to trust that the same detail is being given this year.
Daniel seems excited but I know he will nervous the first few days. He starts August 14th, we find on on the 10th who his teacher is and see the school for the first time. They don't do any sort of orientation until the Thursday before school starts so it's all a mystery at this point.
We have most of his school supplies, I'm trying to decide if I should get him a new backpack or if the lands end one I bought him last summer is good enough. It doesn't match his lunchbag but he doesn't care so I guess I don't need to either.
I want to make him a "first day of/last day of" board and a first day of school shirt but I haven't actually designed either of those yet and we don't get back until the 9th so I don't have much time then, maybe I should be doing that instead on here.... nah! 😂
Yeah, we are about as unready as it is possible to be. No idea where we will be, so not registered, no supply list, haven't even thought about a new backpack. I'd really would have liked to do a "Class of ____" shirts, but there's just no time. I might fake a picture around November when things settle down 😁
B starts August 28th. He says he doesn't want to go, but he'll be fine. He goes to my school, so he'll ride with me in the morning and then come hang out in my room after school until I'm ready to go. I'm sure he'll probably hate that arrangement lol. We go 7:30-2:30. I usually like to stay until about 4:00 so we'll see if that changes. I imagine he'll be tired and whiny, especially at first, so my work time after school will be cut short.
He's going to use his same backpack and has already picked out a Mario lunchbox which I need to buy still. We haven't gotten his supply list yet, I'm sure it's on the website I'm just too lazy to look. I've been stocking up on uniforms and I think we're looking good to start. I need to get him a couple pairs of tennis shoes though.
Oh I got a thing in the mail about cub scouts Anyone thinking of doing cub scouts or daisy for their kids?
I'm def doing it! But might wait until next year. I can't decide, it might be better for her to be with younger kids because of her speech delay. So I'd start her next year in the kindergarten group.
We have open house on the 6th, orientation on the 8th, and school starts the 9th. A is looking forward to it, he is sad some of his best friends from pre-k aren't going to the same school as he is, but we are reminding him he will still know lots of his classmates already. Our supplies list was so specific! Name brand things, specific colored folders, etc. But we are ready. We didn't have to buy a backpack, which A was bummed about, but we have to buy it through the school. We got his school sneakers yesterday and they are getting uniforms today. I'm mostly anxious about the mornings and packing lunches!

K's peeps said it would be really good socially for him
I reached out to the scout leader and he said the lions only meet 2 times a month and it's a casual introduction until they move up to first
