DH is actually seeing some sense!

He has wanted to go camping with friends in CA tacked onto an upcoming work trip, despite tons of other travel this summer. I took k3am's approach of giving him a list of conditions, which put the burden on him. He ultimately decided that he had too much other stuff going on and decided not to go camping.

We also just officially declined for DS1 to be the ring bearer at DH's bff's out of town wedding. The last straw for me had been when there were no suites available. DH was still hemming and hawing, but after an exhausting trip with the boys this past weekend, he finally realized how much work and no fun it would be to bring the boys. So both sets of grandparents are going to split babysitting duties and we are going solo to the wedding!

I think my last TWERK a few months ago said, "Still married." So now:

Getting divorced.

Feeling strangely good about it 99% of the time right now, but I expect some depression in the next few months. I may or may not initiate a weekly "Help Me Get Divorced" thread as I contemplate what to do and what mistakes I've made and when I'm PMSing.

ETA: Also, I promise not to hijack any threads with divorce stuff. Long-winded GTKYs about the meaning of life, however? No promises.

After jumping through a ridiculous number of hoops to get here, I (supposedly) have filled my entry-level position. Hallelujah. He starts 8/1--I hope I'm not back in the TWERKs posting a different update on 8/3.

Neighbor's current outstanding debt to my husband: $0. But, you know, the day is still young.

Mom update. Well I didn't get to say much to her because she has officially boarded the crazy train with the cousin visit. She wanted to take my kids to pick up the other kids at the airport and tried to physically get Ds out of bed to go. I blocked her on the porch for that one. Then she takes Dd who wants to go. A half hour later, I am running and here she comes without dd. She got the date and time both wrong. "Are you insane? " popped out before I could stop it. So the kids show up later than expected and she has spent the last couple days running amuk with all 5. I took them one night, but she is fixing to fly off the handle probably after the bowling trip she insisted to take them on today. Lady, just leave them to their own devices and make sure they don't bleed.

HeartofCheese, I know you've put a lot of thought into your decision, and I am glad you feel at peace (most of the time) with your decision. We are always here for you if/when you need to vent, talk about something, etc.

rere, I feel like the question ("are you insane?") you blurted out to your mom is probably accurate. And I feel that kids need to learn to entertain themselves sometimes, and I'm would bet the cousins would enjoy some time to just play together.

No new updates. Waiting on a number of things, some people have to get back to us, waiting to tell daycare we aren't going back- should probably rip that band aid off, waiting on vacation, waiting on teacher assignments, waiting on money discussions and meeting with financial advisor. We are in limbo, but it's lovely weather here.

This board is full of caring, compassionate and down to Earth women and we're ready for whatever it is you need. I've been waiting to hear your next thoughts. Scoping DS was surprisingly easy. They said he was the easiest toddler they've ever done.

Adenoids are definitely the problem. They're blocking substantially all of his airways and secreting a lot of mucus, making the problem worse. Tonsils look good though. And akafred will be glad to finally have an answer.. laryngomalacia officially ruled out.

DS is set to get those suckers taken on out 8/28. At least it's not brain surgery, right? They do not offer a two for one discount, but since DS's is just outpatient, he only costs $20 anyways.

Now I just have to figure out who will take care of DD...

Day 14 without hot water. Jack holes were supposed to be here over an hour ago with the relacement ignitor.

DD2s fever spiked again yesterday. we are working from home today in shifts. She seems happy, and fever has come down a little.

Got a call this morning that FIL and SMIL (star of the Christmas puzzle saga) are unexpected coming to stay with us for a few days. DH's grandmother passed away yesterday, so they are coming up to make arrangements, etc.

DD1 is potty training. She did great this weekend, and on Monday when I was home with her, and on Tuesday when MIL was with her. She went to daycare yesterday and didn't have nay accidents! And stayed dry on the 30ish minute drive each way!

I finally unwrapped the Shred DVD and did a workout on Monday. Maybe I'll do it again tonight before the inlaws get here.

HeartofCheese, I'm happy that you are at peace with your decision. We are you for vents, laughs, and everything else.

k3am, Any chance one of DD's BFF would be interested in having her for a sleep over so you can concentrate on DS?

I'm taking the summer one week at a time. I have babysitters set up for next week and the week after that and then need to adjust as fall sports start up and a couple of my girls do dance/cheer so start up daily doubles. All my sitters have come from gymnastics either as parents of DD's friends, team girls who are old enough to sit, or the younger high school age coaches. DD has loved it so far and it hasn't been as crazy as I expected.

6 weeks until school starts and DD still says she isn't going back. She has no problems sitting doing the workbook pages the K teacher sent home for summer practice but wants nothing with going back to school. Do I try and get a meet with the counselor/principle before school starts to get a game plan or just drag her to school Sept. 5th?

k3am, glad it is a fairly simple procedure. Glad to have an answer on laryngo so I can quit pestering you haha.

So my moving saga...we have closed on the new house and the sale of the old house and moved in the regular stuff but still have a mobile pod type unit. We were going to have a fence installed but discovered through survey that our legal yard is tinier than we thought and we will not be putting up a wood fence. We are having a hidden fence company come give an estimate tomorrow also. Not loving this position but we decided it is better to stay under the radar for now and not even ask for a variance on the fence since apparently this HOA is super strict and would not grant one. Since we're 99% sure no one actually thinks the land we thought was our yard is the HOA's without looking at a plat or survey anyway, we will most likely put the wire for the underground fence in on the HOA land. Worst case we have to move it which is way less than a physical fence they were almost sure to require eventually.

DH and I desperately need to reconnect. I'm half convinced he hates me at this point. Not really really, but you know, it seems like I am eating a lot of crackers. Also I need to just get away from DD for a bit. I have been mostly solo parenting her on weekends since he's been so busy with house stuff, and when I haven't I have been doing chores. I am over it.

judyblume14, I feel like no hot water and visitors is a bad combo. Sorry about your H's grandmother though.

As for me, the busy season is wrapping up and we'll be able to talk with the potential buyers of our agency soon. The major deadline for the whole industry was last Friday and we have a month to get our info submitted. I will hopefully be done with all of my reports by the end of the month before I take 3 days off. In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out WTF I'm supposed to do when I grow up. As of right now, the 2 things that sound appealing are: submitting a general app at a company in town that is great to work for (a friend told me they have been known to create positions for applicants that they like and I know all of the owners so I feel pretty confident) or teaching at the high school level. I really need to find a career counselor though.

akafred, have you looked into a wireless fence? It gives your dog a radius of a certain amount of feet from the base. Last time I checked they cost a few hundred dollars I think.

My updates are small: The video went over perfectly! So that earned me some good points at work. And DH is begrudgingly on board with me purchasing the new sewing machine in my open letter.

Yeah but the problem is it is a circle. If I wanted to encompass my whole house and at least part of the yard, it would extend out the sides into my neighbors' yards. Which means I would have to put flags in the neighbors' yards at least through the training period. And my dog is dumb. I think I am better off with the underground kind.

judyblume14, sorry to hear about your DH's grandmother. No hot water plus visitors......that sounds awful. I'd love to hear the Christmas Puzzle story. I hope you get your hot water soon! How are your knees after the Shred? I only lasted 10 days (not in a row) in my longest stretch.

erinshelley21, Your job sounds so stressful. My parents are small business owners and the pressure is so difficult, the unknowns for the future, working with family etc. All of it must be so hard. I hope you can find a career path that works better for you.

This is basically what we're thinking we'll end up doing. Her BFF lives too far away to be practical. We have one friend I know would do it without hesitation, but... it would involve a lot of work on our end. They also have two kids and anywhere from 2-7 dogs at a time, and DD hates dogs. So I'm thinking about asking her BFF from daycare. We've spent time at our house, they've spent time at ours, so hopefully, that's not too creepy.

My dad's estate is finally closed! I am so excited to be done! Write my brother a check and I am out of here. This was so stressful and I am so glad it is over. I told mom to change her will and make my brother executor, but I doubt she will. Sounds morbid I know, but talk about being clueless, I felt like a bomb was dropped every week there for a while.

campermom, someone else asked me about my knees! I wasn't using any weight, but i was ok. There was one lunge movement that bugged me.

Ah. The puzzle story. I'll need to find it over on TCF and paste it here. I was 9 months pregnant, my FIL/his wife were staying with us for like 10 days, and were basically eating crackers for me. Their breathing offended me.

It ended with the in-laws splinting a puzzle (assembled over like 15 hours), in the cardboard of a box that they emptied out.

The box was for my soon-to-be-born baby's crib.

FIL "didn't feel like helping with the crib."

The reason for their extended visit? To help us get ready for the baby...
