Yay, this week lasted forever. And of course the weekend will fly by.

Right now I'm waiting for my dentist appointment. I was early and they're running 40min late so far. First time at this place and I'm not pleased. 40minutes behind is really late!

On the upside we're going downtown today to the beach and a Cider Bar

We all slept in til 8:15 today. Though I tossed and turned last night, so it didn't feel like I slept in.

We are going to a pig roast today for an hour or so, provided A is behaving. We wouldn't be going but BIL and fSIL will be there and with them living out of state we figured we'd go to see them.

I am very excited to say that we have no plans this weekend. It's so rare for H and I to get this many days off together with no obligations to worry about. We went to the outlet mall yesterday and I got a new pair of running shoes, slept in until 8:30am this morning, took a drive to get donuts for breakfast, and now we're hanging out at home, watching an Alone marathon.

It's so wonderful. ❤️

We're going to my parents house for dinner because my grandparents are in town. I kind of want to take our swim stuff, but the heat index is over 100 today so I don't really want to be outside at all.

I am on day one of solo parenting and I am about to put a free toddler box at the curb. Six more days. My H owes me big time because this is for a fun trip, not a work one. Normally he's so sweet and funny, but today he is a menace.

grover- I liked for the pig roast not the tossing and turning.

suzv- the few times I've gone out with friends at night I end up being so tired the next day. I'm not sure if it's always worth it. Lol

Tonight we are hosting a pool party/BBQ at the ILs. I hope the weather cooperates, it's currently overcast and we've had a little bit of rain. (Which is great for the fires here but not good for a pool party) If it does rain it will all be ok though.

Also one thing I hate about Facebook events is that so many people either don't respond or they say maybe and how am I supposed to know how much food to have when I have 5 maybes and 6 people haven't rsvp'd yet? (But have seen the invite)

Good news is that a lot of the fires are starting to be under control/put out. Yay!

H is off today so we are having a date day. We went to the local winery for wood fired pizza and some wine. Later he is taking me out for dinner. We haven't gone out for a sit down dinner in awhile.

I took the girls with my grocery shopping this morning. I was also able to run to the store by myself to grab a birthday present for a party we are going to tomorrow. I've been in a weird completely exhausted yet restless state because I've been home so much lately. We have been stuck inside every afternoon because it is too hot and we don't have shade in our backyard until after bedtime for the girls. So we have been trying to get out in the mornings. The afternoons/evenings just feel so long lately!

bk1- glad you got out! I hear you on afternoons 🙁 I try to find things to do inside to pass the time between nap and bedtime. We can't play outside either and staying home is awful.

Busy day! Walked L to Starbucks and then C to the park while L napped! Fun to hang with them individually! They are both napping now (and I got some chores done) and then we will meet up with DH BFF and family for dinner and beer. Also, there is a concert at the lake tonight (everyone in our city are members)...my dad offered for us to go but the boys were a mess at bedtime last night and I don't want to chance that so I offered for them to go. If they do, DH has to go with them to get guest passes and tickets (it's free for us but $15/each for them). After bedtime DH and I need to finish the movie we didn't get to last night and then I will walk it to the store to return. Yay for lots of steps today!!

I called H and told him I am getting a hotel room by myself on Friday. He agreed. I can't wait! Do I prioritize a fun location to go shopping? A great room service menu so I don't have to leave the room? A nice pool?!

It will be blissful!

A whole day to yourself? Definitely prioritize the pool/spa/view/food options! Then sit back, relax, and enjoy the silence!!

When I was cooking dinner earlier DH noticed how hot the house was getting. Our ac was blowing warm air.   It was reading 111 degrees outside at the time. After a couple of hours of working on it THANKFULLY DH got it fixed. That man has saved us thousands over the years. He truly is handy!! It got up to 92 in the house in the mean time. So both the girls just got to bed (a couple hours late!) and we are still cooling off the house. So so so so sooooooo glad he got it fixed!!! We still might have to replace a part but he got it going for now. The most frustrating part is the fact that we have had issues with this unit every summer (even just small issues) and we put it in brand new just a couple years ago.

I am so jealous! Definitely prioritize room service and pool!!! Sleep as much as you want to! You can shop at another time- just rest and enjoy your free time!

Way to go Mr bk1!!! Glad you guys are a little more comfortable tonight, prayers it's not too much to fix it permanently. Heating and cooling issues are so frustrating. We are spending $20k this week to help with our efficiency issues with this house (we even have a new a:c unit...it's the windows that ar horrible. But they won't fix everything, just help a little and add asthethic appeal),

It's DH's birthday today. I'm somewhat on self imposed house arrest....so we aren't doing much. He loves movies so we may rent some.

MrsMB Movies sound like a nice birthday Maybe grab his favorite junk foods to make it more special.

krystee Man, your husband needs to teach mine some lessons. Or, maybe I just need to follow your lead and ask. Your getaway sounds incredible. I'd pick the nicest pool I could find (maybe a rooftop?) and bring a book to read start to finish.

awick14 So glad the fires are finally getting under control. We have that same issue with facebook invites and food. I usually try to do a last minute shout out the day or two before, but even that doesn't always work.

The beach day and dinner out were great, but I sort of had a complete breakdown on the way there. Like, I couldn't stop sobbing. My husband turned around to go home because I was so out of control. That only made me more upset because I knew that would ruin his birthday. We did go home, let me get food and calm down, then left again. I couldn't really tell you what caused it but this isn't the first time that being too rushed has led to me not transitioning well. I think I didn't have enough time to feel like life was controlled (rushed dentist, didn't get the dishes done, the kids were crying when I left, I forgot to show the babysitter some things, I forgot some of my things... and I hadn't eaten all day.) Thank goodness I was able to get it together and still have a wonderful day for my H. I almost totally blew it.
