We had our walk through with our local realtor today and I sent our information to our destination realtor yesterday so we can get the house hunting process started.
None of this was a surprise-- the company has been talking about it for almost a year-- but we were told in January that the target date to have everything completed was the end of August, but we didn't get the transfer papers until about a week ago. But, the target completion date is still.... the end of August. 🙄
So, you know, 30ish days to buy and sell and pack and move a house to get A starting kindergarten on time.

Wow. That sounds overwhelming. I hope it goes as smoothly as possible. Are you excited about the new city or is there someplace else you would have preferred?
We are heading to Texas. We don't want to leave where we are, but I feel like for everything we are losing here we are gaining something positive there. Except the weather. I'm really going to miss the weather. But, I can also grow tomatoes in March and finally plant azaleas again!
It's just a lot to deal with all at once. We are jamming through as many of A's evaluations as we can before we leave, so we know how to approach his new school. We have narrowed down the house search but still need to scout schools and such in person. And we could possibly be listing as early as this week, so there is a lot of packing and minor repairs to get accomplished. This certainly ain't our first rodeo, so we'll be ok, but both DH and I kind of want to fast forward to October. 😁
How stressful!!! I'm glad you're positive about the move, but it would've been nice with a little extra warning! Will you have to move again in the future, or do you guys think you'll be there for a long time? Good luck! I hope you're able to buy and sell quickly!!!
Wow! Yeah that's quite the move. Sorry in advance for the month you are moving here, it's been tortuously hot. One of the big three cities? We're closing on both our houses on the 1st and moving all our stuff that day too and I already feel so bad for the movers!
It's gotten much better in the last 48 hours. We met with our realtor, so our to-do list has been streamlined (but it's still insane-- I'm coordinating cleaners, handyman, and carpet/upholstery cleaners, the realtor is handling the photographer). We've got the house hunting trip booked so we have somewhat of a timeline going. I'll feel much better once we've found a house though.
