Looks like DD and I will be going with MIL for Fall Break. DH will most likely have to work. It is my first trip there. I know it's crazy with tourist stuff, but what about in October! Warm enough to swim? Stuff stays open?
Myrtle Beach was one of our top family trips! Lots to do besides swim. Boardwalk area, Broadway At The Beach, the aquarium was really good. And your DD would love the science museum that looks like an upside down building. I totally forget the name of it.

Where you staying?
The Sea Mist... it would be through the Wyndham time share thing.

So, I'm from Myrtle Beach and I worked at the Sea Mist for three summers at a row (2003, 2004, 2005). Before they turned them into timeshares. Have you been there before?
vasc, I have never been to Myrtle Beach. My MIL and her late husband went to the Sea Mist for like 2 weeks each year with his extended family while he was alive, so I know she is familiar with it. My husband went to Myrtle when he was a kid but doesn't remember much, and it predates the Wyndham thing.
What can you tell me? My primary goal is to make sure DD can swim and otherwise be occupied without having to run my MIL all over tarnation. (Haha I just channeled my redneck relatives there). She isn't ready to have to walk around a ton. I think we may do the aquarium and rent/borrow a wheelchair and go on a pirate cruise. And one day we will visit my former boss who lives in N Myrtle Beach; she mentioned riding in her golf cart to the beach. Otherwise we will probably try to stay at the hotel mostly, maybe 1-2 other little things.
We did WonderWorks in Pigeon Forge. Actually DD and DH did; I stayed at the hotel as it was too much walking for me shortly after the car accident. But I don't think they enjoyed it much IIRC. Which surprised me.

We often go to the Carolinas in the fall. It's usually warm enough to be on the beach in October, and to dip your toes. Full on ocean swimming is way too brisk for me in October, but my H loves it.
The Sea Mist has several pools, including an indoor one (at least there was when I worked there) that should be heated. I will type more when I'm on my iPad.
akafred, the Sea Mist has a lot to offer, although I don't know if it will all be open in October. Looking at the website it says there are two indoor pools, so swimming for sure can happen there. There's also a large play structure like a McDonalds Playplace times ten (elevated tunnels, etc.) and an arcade.
The resort takes up several blocks on either side of Ocean Boulevard. There's an underground tunnel to use to connect the two sides, but it's stair access only so IDK how your MIL will handle it.
Most touristy places will have wheelchairs to rent (Coastal Grand Mall, Broadway at the Beach). Tons of mini golf, but don't know about ADA accessibility. You could also do a dinner show (Medieval Times or Pirates Voyage).
Ripley's Acquarium is good and not too large, so easily a half-day activity, unless you're kiddo is really into looking at fish.
