Hi everyone, Let's talk about military vacation deals!
We have stayed in Hale Koa (honeymoon 11 years ago) and it was awesome!
We have also done Disney World with the military park hoppers for 4 days in 2015 and 5 days this past March. We stayed in Shades of Green and sponsored friends this last time. Our last trip for a family of 5, for 5 days cost about $3,500 including tickets and meals (we drove) I'd say that's a pretty great deal!
Now we are looking at an all inclusive.
Has anyone ever traveled using the Armed Forces Vacation club? Where to and how was it?
How about Interline dot com has anyone used that? Edit: Now I'm seeing there are many agencies that offer military rates at Club Med Punta Cana, which is where we want to go.
Im not sure about us using Space A flights because we aren't really "flexible" with 3 young kids. Maybe if we were going To one of those AFV places that are $350 for a week in case we lost a day in travel.
Ive used the AFV Club many times. The facilities have always been nice and large, but almost always in off-season. It's fine if you don't want to make use of the resort facilities, but it can suck. For example we stayed at a place near Galveston but it was pretty cold to sit on the beach. But I don't have complaints about the niceness of the apartments.
campermom, I didn't know you were military. Not sure how I missed that. I have heard nothing but good things about the AFV. Highly recommended by everyone I talk to. However, I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Hi! I just PM'd you
Just to add to the thread-our family just used our military pass for Busch Gardens Williamsburg and today we went to Colonial Williamsburg. It saved us SO much money. What a great thing they do for us. There's so much to do in Williamsburg for families, I highly recommend it!
We've never used the AFV Club, but stay at the Navy Lodging in Key West whenever we go. It's really basic, but super cheap (especially for Key West), pet friendly, and an awesome location.
We also always check the government/military rates for chain hotels and have got some awesome deals in expensive cities. In our experience, the rates are even applicable overseas.
We've never stayed at Shades of Green but get the Park Hoppers from the base ticket office for the special price and tax free.
