We had our curriculum institute yesterday, and apparently all social studies students in the state will have be tested in American History as the EOC Exam. So my thought for my Civics classes, has been to do a week on the different forms of government, 2 weeks on the settling of the colonies and the events that led to the revolution, a week on the constitutional convention, and then go through each of the presidents, cover major events during their time in office and discuss how the constitution and the roles of the citizen have evolved throughout history.

Which grade?
I like to do court cases that correspond with amendments which can draw studnets in. Privacy issues, free speech in schools (bong hits for jesus is a fun case), prayer in school, etc.

9 & 10 mostly with some upper class thrown in. I love the idea of court cases as well. They're really encouraging us to use sources more than the text book, so that would be a great idea.
