DH and I checked into the hospital this morning (Monday) at 12:30 a.m. for my induction at 39 weeks plus 3 days. They started off giving me a dose of Cyotec at 2 a.m. I was checked at 6 a.m. and there was little progress (2 cm dialated and 60% effaced which was about what I was when I went in). I was given a second dose and checked at 10 a.m. with about the same progress. I was started on a pitocin drip and started to feel contractions but they were mild and not consistent. After 30 minutes they increased the drip and then did so again another 30 minutes later. By 12:30 I was feeling intense contractions and was at 4 cm dilated. I wanted to hold off on the epidural so I could move around some and they told me I probably would not start pushing until closer to 5. At 1:00 I decided I needed the epidural as the contractions were coming one after the other and were pretty painful. After the epidural was placed I was checked and was at 10 cm. I had gone from 4 to 10 in 30 minutes. Thankfully the epidural started working even though I felt intense pressure I did not feel contractions. My doctor came in to check and told me to go ahead and push on the next contraction. I pushed 3 times and she was out. It was so much quicker and easier than my first delivery where I pushed for close to 2 hours off and on. I did have 1 tear. Now baby is getting her assessments and I am wide awake. My MIL brought my DD over earlier and she was so excited and sweet. Here is a picture of Pearl by herself and with big sister, Ruby.
