This the last weekend of summer for us. DS2 starts preschool Monday and DS1 starts first grade in Tuesday. We had a jam packed summer with camp for DS1 and lots of trips so I'm ready to get into a routine again but can't believe only two more days.
Aww, bummer. Seems so early to me. We don't go back until the 30th.
Summer is ok, its flying and i am trying to squeeze in some more activities since it feels like its been more work, less play. I wrote a small list of stuff to do hoping to get it done. Lol
School starts on the 21st for us. DD will be going into 1st as well. I'm not ready for the long school day and homework and signing folders but I am definitely more than ready to get back into a routine! Summer has been good--just long. I hit a wall in mid-July when it becomes too hot too swim.
We went to Disney the first week of June but have been home since then. We didn't do any camps except drop off gymnastics camp occasionally but we did swim lessons (she can now swim butterfly), a hip hop class (she loved!), and have spent ton of time with friends. We checked everything off DD's bucket list--we have bowled, been to a trampoline park, a water park, played putt putt golf, baked cookies and cupcakes, and lots of playdates. That has been the best part of the summer--she's been able to play with her besties nearly every day. She's not ready for school to start at all but she will be fine once it does.

Yikes! I would be in a panic if the summer was ending next week. DD goes back thecweek before Labor Day (2nd grade!!!) and DS the week after (pre-K).
Our summer has been okay. Our big Canada trip got screwed up due to poor planning on SOMEONE's part (not naming any names...ahem...DH is not technically a name). We scrambled and got a place at the coast for 2 weeks, but then my dad got in an accident and I missed the first week to stay in town with my mom and brother. And then I was distracted and kind of a mess the week I was there. It was not the vacation we planned, and I'm trying to let go of the guilt from that.
BUT, things are turning around. My dad is going to be okay, we took another trip to the beach with some girlfriends and their kids, spent a day in the mountain with friends, hung out at our favorite splash pad, and have visited lots of a favorite Portland spots. The last few days we've been cooped up inside because of heat and smoke, but that's clearing out and next week DD has her week at her very favorite art camp.
We still have a month. However, it feels like it is winding down as my kids are at the town park for football and cheer almost nightly! Plus, I am changing schools within my district and I just got the go-ahead to start unpacking my 75 boxes....and our open house is 1 month from today (before the kids even start). It seems like a lot of time, but we still have a lot of fun things planned to work around.

Wow, I forgot hat different regions start school so early! We're about halfway through summer break now. Town Rec camp finished up this week, so August is always slow. Drew is in camp for two more weeks and Emma has a STEM camp the week of the 14th, then Julia has summer band at school in the mornings the last two weeks of August. Other than that we'll spend a lot of time at the pool.
Drew starts preK Sept 6, girls start 5th and 3rd grades Sept 7.
Not over yet, here! We just got back from a family vacation up north and had a super time swimming, boating, playing games. My brother's son starts kindergarten on Tuesday in Alabama! My kids don't go back until the 28th. We have a busy week at home this week with dental check-ups for three kids & me, an afternoon science camp, a local fair, and a bday party. Next week DD goes to Girl Scout day camp and I go along one day. The 18th is our 10th (!!) wedding anniversary. We are likely just going out to dinner, but hope to do a weekend trip of some sort in winter. The day after our anniversary we head up north for our last cottage trip of the season. We come back just in time for "back to school night" when the kids meet teachers, pay fees, get photos taken, drop off supplies, etc. They start on the 28th.
I love summer. Never ready to see it end! I spent a lot of time today working on fall activity plans and registrations and am not looking forward to driving everyone around all the time. We keep summer pretty light and it's been great.
