Not even a little joking. I took the boys hiking. And everything was going normally, we were following the blue trail and decided to rest, get water and turn back. I have no idea what happened but we ended up on Yellow somehow. Well I decided to see if maybe it collided with blue eventually. Instead it ended. So we turned around again and ended up OFF trail. I was starting to panick and turned back a 3rd time. I did find yellow and followed the opposite way as before. Finally we spotted the blue but i am not even joking when I say i was about to call 911. I even called dh to see if anyone at work knew the area. My gps would not recognize where we were either. We were out there over an hour and a half total!!! (30 mins lost) I later found out, loggers started clearing the area so that is why the trails disappeared. Thankfully, my boys had no idea how lost we were and were fine. Such a scary thing
Omg, sheesh - that is scary! We got "slightly" lost on a trail near our house with DS last summer. Even though we knew we couldn't be "too" lost since the woods is entirely within the city, I still started getting freaked out because of having DS with us. We ended up hiking for 1.5 hrs total with no water or anything, and he was only 3 at the time.
I kept thinking at least I know I am on yellow now if I have to call 911. So glad it hit the blue though. Ds2 was like "yes!! Can we get ice cream now??"
I said absolutely and bought them 2 scoop waffle cones. Haha.
nicolewi, I was so relieved. I now have 3 lovely humongous scratches across my inner calf that are currently killing me. I dont think I will be venturing out anytime soon.
