I'm heading to the LRS to pick up my bib for Saturday's half marathon. They also have a group that does a run Thursday nights, and I've timed it so I will be able to run with shiny new people.
I am currently sitting in my car giving myself a Stuart Smalley style speech because shit like this makes me so very nervous.
Update: this group was… Not super welcoming. I tried talking to a few, but everyone mostly stayed in their little groups. Which is fine, just indicates these are not my people. The search continues

Admittedly, I am very picky about running groups – I have to feel some kind of connection to be inspired to drive 45 minutes or more round-trip to run a 3 mile run with one of the local groups. My Friday morning group inspires that, for which I am thankful. But would it kill one of the local running groups to run on my side of town?

I have a very active group all of 10 minutes away, and I still can't get myself to meet up. So I feel you though I'm spoiled and may have some sort of hangup. I am so used to running alone though. I'm not sure how to do it with a group.

I got a gentle but firm kick in the ass Wednesday by my coach. It was enough to pack all my gear to run tomorrow morning when H and I are staying at WDW. With the mindset I've been in since May normally I would have been all "eh whatever." I thought about doing my long run this morning but sleep was just way too good. So here I am planning my long run route at WDW. I'm actually pretty pleased with myself. Maybe this time I'll finally get out of my own way and keep it that way.
Anyone know how to let dogs know when it's a REST day ? This morning my pooch got me up at 4:15. Guess it's his revenge for me doing the same the past 2 mornings, since I have to take him out and feed him before I leave for my run. At least I got to go back to sleep for almost 2 solid hours so I'll take it.

Also I am using my Nathan's hydration backpack for the first time tomorrow to try out before the real long runs start. Should be interesting experiment. I swear every year summer is a little more hot and a lot more humid.

I mostly took this week off to rest my hip. I did a little time on the elliptical the other day and went to a Barre/ Pilates class yesterday. It was fun, but it was also a great reminder that I am not very graceful.
My hip is feeling okay - I'm going to try to get some miles in next week and see how it goes. I have an appointment with an orthopedist in a few weeks.
Next week, I am going to ask my body to do a lot and I just hope it doesn't rebel. Full training schedule, 40 miles, lifting, yoga, plus two concerts, plus two appointments at this new chiro-PT hybrid. Oh yeah and work lol.
I ran 7 miles this morning after not having run since Saturday. I need a nap...and for my achilles to stop hurting for good. That reminds me, I need to schedule a consult at the Airrosti place (but am probably going to wait until I see my usual sports doc on Weds) because I'm starting to get desperate.
I have a race tonight. I love evening races!! My hip is not up for "racing" so I signed dd up to do it with me. She will go slow so it will keep me from pushing too much. It's a women's only race and they have a medal this year! I'm excited to do it with dd.
My 5K PR was this race 2 years ago but they completely changed the course. I'm glad because I'm so much slower now. I wouldn't want to do a direct comparison!!
I've found that at least this time around, I'm REALLY enjoying interval runs. It's fun to go for it on speed. Though I'm not sure if I'm running them too fast? Or if my goal times are too slow? I'd had planned to run them at around 8:30 based on the equivalent 5k pace from McMillan for my goal race pace at 10k as per input from you guys. But the pace that I'm just sorta falling into is more like 8:00. If I want to do 8:30 I have to keep checking my watch and slowing down. Is there any downside to running them faster? I know that easy runs I shouldn't push the pace, but if I can do the specified number of repeats at that pace....does that mean it's an ok pace? Or could i still be overdoing? Is it different since my A race is a 10k distance rather than HM or longer?

LOL! People get so adamant about the slow miles being slow, I didn't know if there was such a thing as too fast for the fast stuff!

I'm busily searching for "warm-up" marathon swims in April or May of next year. So far, everything is in April, and of the two I'd consider, one is back-to-back, but it's an application swim and hard to get into, and the other is 24 miles in Tampa Bay. I'm really not sure which of those is a worse option, lol.
