A's school is having an early dismissal on Monday for it. They are also giving all of the kids the viewing glasses. MH's school isn't doing anything, and all after school activities are cancelled to keep kids from staring at the sun and/or getting distracted

We will be at the beach. Their daycare sent out a notice that they will keep all the kids inside. We won't be there, but I totally get it, I can't imagine trying to keep glasses on a bunch of toddlers.
I have glasses for all of us, but I am kind of hoping Annabelle is napping. She is very much a 3 year old who does what she wants when she wants... keeping glasses on her would be a feat. I want Henry to watch it with us.
I'm not sure. I forgot to get glasses! We're in the like 97% blackness range so it should get pretty dark. I have no clue if A's class is doing anything, I haven't heard but they better! I need to go try to find some leftover glasses somewhere.

Schools here are keeping the kids later than usual so they can view the eclipse as a class. They got all the schools glasses and are making a teaching point out of it. We are at about 97% visibility. Otherwise they would be dismissing and loading buses at eclipse time.
We got a letter home yesterday that district bought glasses for all the kids and plan to take them outside to view it. There was a letter to sign if we do not want them to go outside. We are about 92% here so it should be fun to see. H ordered glasses but I don't know that they will get here in time. I'm going to check out a local place I heard had them today.

We will be in 98% totality. I think we will go to our local library for their viewing celebration. They are providing glasses there. Kids get out of school at 11am and it should happen for us around 1 or 2 if I remember correctly.

With my budding astronomer, we are being total nerds. I'm taking Andrew out of school and driving into totality. There's a minor league baseball team in Columbia, SC that's doing a fun day for it. They're having a science fair that morning, with lots of booths and activities. Then they're playing a baseball game during the eclipse. They'll stop for the two minutes of totality, then finish the rest of the innings. We're going with friends, and have all sorts of eclipse activities, snacks, and beverages (both kiddie and adult) planned.
My friend put together a "Practical Guide to Enjoying the Great American Eclipse," in case anybody is interested. Lots of ideas, activities, and information. www.sisterhoodofthetrainingpants.com/solareclipse/
They let us out of school because we're so close to totality and my guess is that most people were trying to take the day off. My friend is just south west of the city and in totality, so we're driving to her house. I still expect a multi hour drive even though it's 20 minutes away. E will go to daycare. A and her daughter are the same age. We're doing the paper plate trick with the kids glasses, but we're also filling a baby pool for them to watch the reflection in it. Safer.
Daycare is letting Ls class watch on tv and As class they are covering windows with paper and ignoring it No outside activities until later in day (9-12 here) I'm going to a work conference. Traffic could be insane but hopefully they give us a break at 10!
We haven't started school yet, and Blake has KRA testing tomorrow at 1p, so he'll be doing that for about 2 hrs. We're at 80% totality I think. I didn't get glasses or anything.
So...we have an outdoor birthday party today at noon, for a friend. We don't have glasses and I'm thinking that maybe the parents didn't realize it was right in the middle of the eclipse. Do I need to keep my kids inside?
We were at 99%. I expected it to get darker than it did, but it was awesome! The temperature changed by several degrees, you could feel it drop. Super cool experience!

Exactly this It was so pretty I'm glad I got to see it and now wish I was in totality but was at a work conference

We were in totality and it was seriously amazing!!!! We drove about 3.5 hours to get there, and I was seriously grumpy, but I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!

I'm kind of mad at myself for not going to totality!

That's so cool! Did Andrew love it?
He was beside himself. As we were nearing totality, he started getting really nervous. I'm not sure if it was fear of the unknown or what, but as soon as he could take his glasses off, he couldn't stop laughing.
I mean, I'm not exaggerating when I say 85% of the things out of this kid's mouth are about space. He slept in his space pajamas last night, complete with space underwear. He wore the eclipse shirt he insisted on making earlier this week. I don't think he stopped smiling until he was asleep.

This!! My friends house was in totality, so we dropped E at daycare and took A with us. I can't even describe how amazing it was. I mean, the rest was cool, but totality was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. When it happens again, you should drive to totality if at all possible!!!
