Help me pick a new car seat for my April 12 baby. Dh needs one for his truck. He rides in the evenflo maestro in my car with 5 point harness. He is usually in my car and all trips will be in my car. Dh just needs one for the occasional pickup or around town driving. L is about 42 lbs and probably 44". Should I get another 5 point or another booster only seat and use the seatbelt in dh's truck? Any names/brands you recommend?

We just got the Britax 5 point boosters, pioneer maybe? The kids love them! I like the safety of them, and that they convert to booster only seats for later. (And they have cupholderS)
I'm in the same boat. We need new ones for our nanny's car and traveling.
I want them to still be in a 5 point harness but don't want to spend a ton and want them to be light for travel.
Look at the Cosco Finale or Evenflo Maestro.
I debated getting a Britax Frontier, but not sure I want to spend $600 on spare seats when I will need to buy boosters for our car when they outgrow the Maxi Cosi Prias they are in now.

We have the maestro and I like it. I'm wondering how quickly he will outgrow it since he is 6-8 pounds away from being too big to use the 5 point
puppylove64 Oops! I did read your post. I think you can go either way- 5 point or booster with seatbelt- depending on booster/seat requirements and how well you think he will sit with the belt where it should be.
I live in an area where all kids are in 5 point harnesses till like, 10. My brother's kids are 8 and not even in a booster anymore. Granted, it has a lot to do with height and weight, but ditching car seats earlier than people do here, seems to be more the norm in other areas.
I think you could do either. The Graco nautilus is usually around $100 and does harness, high back and backless booster. If you get just a booster I'd do one that is high back and backless to last the longest.

If you want to go the harness route Cosco just came out with a new FF harness to booster seat called the Finale. It's only $40 but got great reviews from CSTL. It's harnesses to 65lbs and 49in, then boosters 100lbs and 52in Keep an eye on your maestro the harness on it only goes to 50lb but has a 50in height limit at least. I haven't educated myself on seat belt boosters yet as my kid is legally too small to use one. Haha. So I don't know what to recommend there.
We also have a maestro as our back up seat. Ari is small, 40 lbs, and average to short height. We will also most likely switch to the seatbelt in a year.

We ended up getting some graco high booster without the 5 point harness. I feel better After having him sit in it and the seat belt is in a good position. I can't believe he is wearing a seat belt 😠He will keep wearing the harness in my car a little longer. His weight is getting close to the limit
