I'm laying in bed and I can't sleep. Urg. I have to be up early as I have a dragon boating festival tomorrow. Our first race is at 8am, so we have to be there at 6:45.
DH and I put another offer in for a place. It's a slightly smaller unit, it's 2 bed 2 bath. We really liked it when we first saw it and until we saw the last place we had planned on putting an offer in on it. So we decided what the hell lets just do it. They have into 10pm tomorrow to counter. I'm nervous all over again.
I am at my parents with my kids. I was expecting the worst re: sleep but I ended up putting G in a PAC n play in a walk in closet and he slept 9 hours. I'm in shock. Now my cousin is making breakfast and B is having a blast playing with the dog. H was here too but he already left to go rebuild our fence. No plans the rest of the weekend, which is good. I'll take the kids home at naptime, though I'm bracing for lots of traffic.
Blue Moon- yay for G sleeping so well! Hope the drive home goes ok! How far away are your parents from you guys?
I am up and drinking coffee. L just woke up so I need to go get him and then will get C up. No plans except taking C to the park this morning. Might go to the lake after naps since it's supposed to be hot but not sure what we will do.
Blue Moon woohoo! I hope you got some good sleep too!
There is a parade in our town this morning and our fire company is participating but I decided to skip it this year. I'm going to work a fireworks show later with H. I'm bringing some wraps and potato salad with me so the crew doesn't have to spend a lot of money on stadium food. I don't have to be there until 5 so I have a quiet morning/afternoon today.
Totally random but the new apple flavored Noosa yogurt is delicious. I had it for breakfast this morning. I also bought the pumpkin flavor too since they had it.
Apparently I have my monthly cold. This is really annoying. It's almost exactly every month I get a drippy nose, then it gets really stuffy and my throat hurts. Allergy pills don't seem to help. So I don't know what this is or why I keep getting sick. H is going to take E to ILs so he can replace my brakes and I can rest a bit. Tomorrow we're planning on doing a run to Sam's for some stuff we need to stock up on. Pretty exciting weekend

I really could use a day where we get to just hang around in our pajamas all morning and be lazy. We've been so busy lately! It looks like next Monday might be able to be our lazy day.
We're going to the Mets/Nationals game today...it will be DS's 4th baseball stadium and his first METS game! Just wish our team was a little better this year

We made it and they both slept for a little! The drive is usually ~2 hours.
I need to get up off the couch and get ready to go to work. Luckily the show we are doing is 2 miles from the house. It's our town's fair so I planning on getting some funnel cake! I can't wait lol.
Then I saw my hometown is flooded. Dad and step mom are okay. My grandmother's house has 5 inches of water in it, so she and my aunt and uncle are all at my older cousin's house. They're fine. I need to call my other grandmother.

C has a cold and I now have it too. I think L might be catching it but too hard to tell. C is still full of energy so trying to power through. DH wants and needs to do something fun (he always complains that we don't do any of the things we used to do) and mentioned going to the harbor so he can paddle board and I can either walk with the boys or take them to baby beach. So we are heading to the beach after naps for a little while...I will take them for a walk while he paddles. Should be a nice change of scenery and much cooler weather! I am dreading this upcoming week of high temps, mainly because we are signed up for the electric company to turn off our a/c whenever they want to and I am mentally preparing that to be 4-8p every day this week which means we need to find indoor activities to do.

H was finishing a movie after E got up from a nap. I wasn't fully paying attention but something happened, then there was an explosion. E goes "oh, they killed him!" What?? Whatever happened to the character was magical looking, not anything graphic, but I was surprised he made the connection. We've never really watched anything violent with him, at least that he would remember! Kids pick up on EVERYTHING!
I've been noticing these weird bruises around my knees lately. That's part of my job as a day stocker, stocking shelves and often on my knees. But still I think it's strange to get bruising from that?
It was a really warm summer where I live. Just 2 weeks ago I was walking to work early in the morning (before the sun came up) and it was still warm. But the past few days it's been kind of frigid in the morning. I could even see my breath this morning.
This summer went by really fast. I never thought this last winter would end. It just seemed to drag on and on. Now fall is just around the corner and I'm like WTH?
@@@ So my kid has been a jerk for weeks, but it's getting out of control. He hasn't been going to bed without the most gigantic of fights, and even then it takes until like 10-11pm, but which point I'm so exhausting I just finally eat my dinner and go to bed. I've gotten so behind on life between him not sleeping and migraines. I haven't sewed in weeks, and that is supposed to be my stress relief, nor have I watched tv or caught up on laundry or anything. H and I talked tonight and determined a few steps to start implementing to see if we can regain our life, but it sucks to be taken over completely by an asshole toddler.
@emotionalpoet I felt the exact same way last winter, and suddenly here comes fall. I'm absolutely DREADING eventual winter
estrellita Last year M just started out of the blue shooting people with his finger and sticks. We still don't know where he was exposed because it certainly wasn't at home. We guess it was from cousins or the park, so maybe your E heard that terminology at daycare? Kids say and remember everything.

amaranth That could be. I mean, we've talked about killing bugs so maybe he made that association somehow? Who knows, lol. I'm not too worried about it, it just completely took me by surprise!
Not going to post spoilers here but OMG GOT!!! Why is the next season so far away??
@emotionalpoet - I hate when I know I have to get up early and I can't sleep. And it seems to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more I focus on how much I need to sleep, the more restless I am. Ugh! I hope you were able to get some sleep last night.
HoneySpider, thank you. My grandmother is the only person with damage, and it seems to be limited to those 5 inches. Fortunately, she has flood insurance and has already filed a claim. And the insurance agent is a family friend, so he'll take care of them. My aunt and step mom said they're going to fix up get house really nice--new carpet, new cabinets, new walls and paint, new furniture, etc.
And MrsAggie checked in as safe on FB, has been posting there.
We are safe. The area around us is flooded. We made one last trip to the grocery store this morning and now the grocery store is under water. We're praying we can keep power.
Our neighborhood is recommending evacuating but the recommendation came too late and lots are already flooded in. Our street is particularly bad with water still steadily rising and the bayou is now overflowing so it's about to get worse. The water is a few houses down the street. We've never even been close to flooding before. We don't have flood insurance. I'm in shock and can't even fully process that we could lose most of our possessions. I'm just so thankful we are safe and have food and water. I'm praying it stops raining.
Oh MrsAggie I am so sorry I'm glad you guys are safe, but I can't imagine how you're feeling right now and the stress of the damages. Huge hugs and prayers. Please let us know if there's any way we can help you guys out once the rain stops and you know what is needed.
