This afternoon my mom and I are driving up to Michigan so I can take the ATA (Am. Translator's Assoc.) exam on Saturday. It seemed way easier to do it here than to try to do it in Europe, where I would have to fly to Italy, Spain, or the Netherlands to take it and have to deal with the stress of travel plus another language to find my way places. I have no idea how I'll do on it, and it can take up to 15 weeks to be graded, so I'm not going to hold my breath.
QOTD: For our German wedding I regret not getting a separate hotel room from my parents the night before the wedding. I could have slept, but they were both chainsawing down entire rainforests (speaking of the snoring post...), so I slept maybe an hour all night. That meant that during our wedding reception I was exhausted, my contacts dried out (like they do when I'm tired), and at about 12:30 I just wanted to get out of there.
For our US wedding, I would have picked a different hairdresser. The one I had was a professional, but she was a friend of a friend and had nothing else to recommend her. Yes, it was about 98°F and strong winds, so any hairdo would have had a trial in that weather, but it didn't even look that great as soon as she was finished with it. I feel like I could have done a better job myself. I LOVED my hair in the German wedding and wish it could have looked as good for the pics with the professional photographer we had in the US. (The pic in my siggy is from the US, and you can see that my hair is just sort of hanging, half-curled (it's naturally wavy and really easy to curl, so that's quite a feat) :-( )

Good morning! We are off to the library this afternoon, after DS is done with school. Then, I am going to try and figure out how to put up the quickset pool. It should be interesting.
QOTD: For me, I wish I had worn my original dress that I picked and had worn my hair down instead of up. We had a late July wedding, and a gale/nasty storm blew in the morning of. I was frigging freezing the day of with a strapless dress. Also my hair looked kind greasy, it was weird.
Good afternoon... today was my first Friday working since January and I'm struggling now... I'm going to miss those Fridays... Going to finish up soon though and head home.
QOTD: There's not much I would change about our wedding... loved the church ceremony, dress, outfits for everyone else, reception (that people still talk about 3 years later), flowers, cake...... Maybe the only thing I would change would be that I wish I had done a small speech and thanked a few people personally... but other than that all good.
Morning! This afternoon we are off to Madrid for a wedding. Friends of ours (who, incidentally, moved to Germany in September) are getting married this weekend. We are very excited, but it's going to be a fast, crazy trip I'm sure.
QOTD: I'm not sure I'd change anything. I guess I kind of was hoping for a small, intimate wedding, but the one we had was wonderful too so it's not really a regret, just something that was different than I'd imagined. Actually, if I had to change one thing it would be the cake. We had the cake that came with the package our reception venue had, but I wish I had found one to have an American-style cake. Ours was delicious though.

Good morning. We're in the midst of a 4 day weekend for my H. So nice.
QOTD: I wish that someone that was paying attention made sure that champagne was passed out for the toast. I also wish that the weather in the morning was better because we had to cancel the outdoor cocktail hour. I had some great plans for the cocktail hour.
Afternoon! Today seems like a quiet day, poor H caught a cold so he's home too and I live that I get to care of him for once. I went to the dentist for a cleaning this morning and am not satisfied with the result. He won't be seeing me again.
QOTD: Nothing, fortunately. We had a dreamy issue-free destination wedding that exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect combination of romantic, fun, glamorous and intimate. We really can't complain.

Good Morning -- it actually is morning here, only it's Saturday.
Not much going on this weekend. We have some housecleaning for our rental inspection on Thursday, but the workmen are coming on Tuesday to install the new split system A/C in the back of the house, so the cleaning might be for naught. Yesterday, I was having a homesick day so DH took me for a drive over to Phillip Island where I indulged in a new book and we did our weekly shop at the new Woolies there. It was a fun afternoon.
QOTD: I would have included my sister-in-law in the photos. It was not a deliberate slight, but I have no photos of my SIL at my wedding, not even in the "family" shots. I feel terrible every time I look at the photos because I really like her. And it was truly not deliberate.
